Forget about purchasing anything (not just FTX Global) at Flight Sim Store at this moment (10.40z)...... links to almost all of the geographic servers except 2 are dead, and the 2 that are working are running at 10kbps  :angry:

 

I'm currently on my 5th attempt to download Orbx OG39 Longview Ranch, and have had 4 dropouts, and quotes of 1 week to download this 480Mb package!

 

Clearly servers are all fried from FTXG.... I picked a heck of a time to buy OG39!   :lol:

All servers apart from the "Cloud" now appear dead and are going to 'pages does not exist' redirections.

 

The Cloud server is showing 2 days to download OG39, but drops out after around 10 mins.

 

They definitely weren't set up for the onslaught of downloads today...........

Is this an attempt to stop so many people using the servers so that OG39 will download quicker?  :lol:

Thanks for the heads up - I've just downloaded Getright, so trying that now.      (However can't even get into the Flight Sim Store "My Orders" area now ........... that is hanging now.

 

This thread is in no way an 'anti-FSS' message - I buy everything off them, (and have spend $600+ with them), but the current purchasing / downloading experience is pretty awful today............ so probably just worth holding off at the moment - if you have the patience!

I'm using the first Global server, no problems with it so far (fingers crossed) and the DL's only taken the best of an hour.

Perhaps they're now prioritising FTX Global downloads........ at the misery of people buying other stuff! ...... Almost certainly not, but strange that yours is firing on gas, and mine is dead as a donkey.

Very odd. Perhaps,, especially given that each FTX Global download is 4.5GB or so, but I'd find that odd too.

The server speed on the CLOUD server suddenly picked up dramatically and the download finished in 10 mins  :cool:

 

...so perhaps someone has kicked the server, or put a fan next to it! :lol:

Mods - feel free to close or delete this one, as you see fit, as speeds seem to have improved dramatically. 

Their server capacity is usually very good. I typically get around 12-13 MB/s from FSS using one of their European servers. However I would guess FTX Global has caused quite a spike in server load  :lol:

Sounds like you should have used the "Get a Different Date" download program Dave lol.  That's like me trying to go for a jog next to a major college football stadium on gameday Saturday.  It's fine any other day, but not on gameday, or in this case ORBX's big release.

No offense meant but I was talking with some guys last night and rightly expected this sort of thing to happen.  Reminds me of a new block buster movie that everyone runs out, lines up waits for hours to get into see because they just have to be able to say to there colleagues and friends that they have seen the movie..and it was kwel. 

 

Personally, I'll wait.....once the first crush dies down and life returns to normal... just like I will wait forever before going to the theaters to see a block buster movie.  When I go, if I go..there are no lines, plenty of seats to chose from, more elbow room.

No offence taken, of course :smile: but actually, if you read the OP again, you'll see that this was nothing to do with FTX Global, or needing to say that it was bought on Day One.... I was buying an add-on that was released 8 months ago   :wink:

Yup no offense intended - you were trying to get another d/l - I saw that...just kinda laughing at the overload going on and hundreds of forum posts sweeping the planet about this product.  I must admit I'm reading them...and posting.  Yes, timing is everything - Q400.

 

lol...maybe I'm getting old...predictable.  And I don't like crowds, big cities anymore....too much craziness.
