Scenery error at SVLO. Anyone got a fix?

Featured Replies

Have tried this in FS9 with no 3rd. party addons - seems to be in the default, so I guess everyone has the same thing? Anyone got a fix (unlikely, I know!)???  This is en route to SVMI, which is nice to fly to and has some good addon scenery, so it is slightly annoying to see this every time... I guess I could get out my installation of Ground2K4, but that's always a last resort!

The Flight1 Islands of the West Indies scenery takes care of this and gives you a nice little airport as well...

Hmm. Around $40. Not sure I can justify that for the number of times I fly there.

Download LWM Viewer2 this is most likely a bgl issue for this area run lwm viewer then go to this location and hit follow in lwm viewer you will see the BGL files for this area

Hi. I do already have LWM Viewer2 but have never learned how to use it!

I located the various bgl files before posting (all default, in the Name folder), and there is clearly an error in one of those. I may (just for the exercise) try to create my own bgl correction. I'll upload it to the AVSIM library if successful: don't suppose it'll be downloaded exactly thousands of times, but that's not the point of course. ^_^

Just wasted two hours (par for the course) trying to use Ground2K4. I never used a programme that generates so many error messages!

I reinstalled the programme but I either get no bgls, bgls that do nothing or errors such as this:

Or if I try to create a polygon, this one (which shuts down the programme: how do I fix this error - never had it before with Ground2K4?):

There must be an easier way to fix this!! Or I'll probably just ignore it... Life's too short

LATER .. Life may be too short but I HATE giving up on this kind of thing. I downloaded the OCX file and put it into my Windows/System32 folder. Now Ground 2K4 doesn't shut down. I'll continue with this and either report back that I have a working bgl or that I have removed the whole programme from my PC in frustration.

If you want i can send you a copy of my bgls for this area, let me know and i can either post them here or send it via E-mail.

I do have Ultimate Terrain in my system but no worries if you dont have as i also have the deafault BGl'S for this area backed up

OH Wow im starting to wonder if this is a common issue for FS9 as i have the same exact issue with is airport Clearly this is an FS9 Issue i will try and find a cure and get back to you

Ill get back to u if i find a solution

Heres your solution, Use LWMViewer to create new land class for this area

Once you creat the new Raw data after saving your work in LWM Viewer use the newly extracted INF and RAW In Terrain SDK Tools and Drag the INF and RAW File into this folser if you dont have the Terrain Tools You can get it here http://www.fsdeveloper.com/forum/downloads.php?do=file&id=37

Drag the INF file into the “resample.exe” within the Terrain tools directory to compile it as a BGL file

Add the Newly compiled BGL into the Addon Scenery/Scenery (Or create a seperate folder and call it (Venezuela Fix) with a subfolder labled Scenery and activated all done B)

Looks great - thanks for doing this. The only problem is that I spent ages learning how to use Ground2K4 (which often produces zero results, as in this case - lots of bgl files now but none has any effect) but have never understood how to use LWM viewer.

I'll read the manual and give it a go!!

Roger that

Lwm viewer is as easy as cake lol

Open your Sim, Then open Lwm Viewer V2

Once in LWM Viewer On the sub Menu select FS2004 Then Select Follow

Slew your aircraft to about 4,000ft

You'll now be able to see the Map clearly in LWM Viewer with the Missing Terrain Tiles

Right click anywhere in the map and you will get a Sub menu in the sub menu select Landclass Editor

From there youll be able to simply select the type of land you want to place within the sub menus

Save the files once your done convert the Raw and INF File into a bgl and your finished lol I pretty much learned all that today Good Luck Mate  B)

To make things easier for you i can email you the fix i created with LWM VIEWER all you have to do is activate it within the sims library to save you the trouble

"Once you create the new Raw data..." I wouldn't know where to start I'm afraid and at the moment, browsing through the pdf guide, I see that to work out how to do this is going to take hours and hours. I can't undertake that at the moment.

Any chance you could upload your files to the library?

:-)

ONE MINUTE LATER: Our posts crossed!! Not sure what kind of 'cake' you are thinking of, but I'll have another look in the light of your 'mini tutorial'!
