XPlane sound issue

Featured Replies

Recently, xplane 10.22 (It was doing it on the previous version as well) has started making weird sounds. When I am at the splash/setup screen, it makes a high pitched whine and when it gets into the actual aircraft, with no engines or avionics started, there is a strange chattering noise. I have the volume levels adjusted pretty low, around 30%, both within xp and on the settings from within the realtek control panel.

I don't experience this with any other games or applications. I have tried relocating the speakers, wiring, turned off everything else, reset default sound profiles in realtek and it's still there and only in xplane. It also can be heard through headphones.

Thanks for any suggestions.

Thats weird. Might be a win 8 issue. You should try installing a second copy of XPX and see if it's still an issue.

I gave that a shot. Thanks for the advice. It didn't work however.....I'm going to try another set of speakers next just to see.

Well...if it's only in XP it's unlikely a speaker problem.

I have a strange screeching sounds when loading carenado planes but that's just for a few seconds and then it's gone. Probably a SASL / Gizmo quarrel (though this should have been sorted out with latest releases).

Flo B.

It's, I believe, the SASL /  Gizmo interference. It goes away after a while.

If I am not going to fly a Gizmo based model, I always make sure I either start with a non SASL aircraft or I disable Gizmo in the plugins menu.

EDIT:

Not a Gizmo vs SASL conflict - I just tested on an install without any trace of Gizmo, and when I load some SASL aircraft I have that noise for a while and the screen freezes... Then it all recovers back... Takes around 30''
