August 14, 201312 yr Hello I want to ask if this callout AIRSPEED LOW" is simulated in the PMDG777. This callout is an airlines option like "V1" or "ENGINE FAIL". it can be heard reaches the minimum air speed. I heard that in the ifly 737 the first time. Here is an example during the GPWS test in a 737NG. Can also the callout "ENGINE FAIL" be selected? I heard that in the old PMDG 737NG in the year 2003 for the first time.
August 14, 201312 yr Thanks for showing us an example on the 737 that makes alot of sense.... Adam Ruemenapp
August 14, 201312 yr Thanks for showing us an example on the 737 that makes alot of sense.... +1...a 777 is not a 737.... Cory Baxes
August 15, 201312 yr Thanks for showing us an example on the 737 that makes alot of sense.... Actually it does, Boeing uses a lot of the same electronic components (as well as the contractors that build some of the systems) through out their entire line of aircraft. To answer your question. I was looking a whole bunch of videos and only found that one that uses the Airspeed low. I also was looking at several engine failure videos albeit training simulators, of the 737 and the 777 and there were no other videos with the engine fail call out or the airspeed low call out. Oh and could you please sign your real name to your post, as per forum rules, Thanks. Russell Homan

No actually it doesn't - the 777 and the NG were produced by entirely different design and engineering divisions at Boeing, they're made in different places, have different avionics suppliers etc. The differences between the two in terms of the avionics could fill an entire manual on their own - trust me, I've entered enough of them into our bug tracker since Alpha to know. I'm already expecting an onslaught of "bug" reports on release day from people thinking it should look and act just like the NG - it doesn't, in some cases in very major ways. I'm not aware of any aural callout options like these on the 777 - it's all done through the EICAS and the master caution and warning alarms. August 15, 201312 yr Author The callout "AIRSPEED LOW" is an new callout. Perhaps it will be heard in the future often. This callout makes sense after the crash with ASIANA 777 in SFO. The callout ENGINE FAIL exists also for the 777 as custom option. I heard that myself in a youtube video. It was in an original 777 fullflight sim. There is another callout which is offered by Boeing. It says "CONFIGURATION". But I never heard that personally. P.S. The GPWS of THALES has a similar callout like AIRSPEED LOW. It says "ALPHA FLOOR".

Nothing about a voice aurally saying "AIRSPEED LOW", "ENGINE FAIL" etc. For example, when "AIRSPEED LOW" is activated, a beeper will sound with an "AIRSPEED LOW" message on the EICAS. Yes the 777 is an entirely different bird, She has updated components but there are some that are reused. I personally know that Honeywell uses the same Airplane information management system (AIMS) (hardware) for the 737-700/-800/-900, 747, 757, 767, 777 of course the aircraft are software driven . So Tabs I do agree with you the aircraft behaves differently, has more added, has things removed, and should not be compared to the 737 in terms of how it behaves. However I do believe that the software and call outs for the GPWS are the same. I could be mistaken though. Russell Homan

Yes, that is exactly how it works: Bleeb Bleeb (audio caution) + Airspeed Low (Yellow) on the upper center display. No voice audio for this condition. Rob Robson
