August 18, 201312 yr It's a good thing that you can see which users are Commercial Members. But imho it would be even better if you could also see what commercial product(s) they develop.... Quite often Commercial Members join discussions about products of other Commercial Members and sometimes it's hard to see or figure out if the posts from that CM are simply 'user posts' or 'competitor's posts' (thus with a hidden agenda, which btw has become a popular word on this forum). Would it be a good idea to let all Commercial Members show in their profile what addon (or whatever) they develop (or test or sell) or what company they represent? Just curious. As usual.
August 18, 201312 yr That's a great idea I strongly agree with this request At times it is very confusing "commercial member of what?" Bo Klop
August 18, 201312 yr Good point. Not all of them carry a signature helping with the task. We must appeal to their pride! ^_^
August 18, 201312 yr Commercial Member Hum....Well I would....But given the fact that i can be too talkative and also have a knack for saying the wrong thing at the wrong time when posting in topics about projects that i have worked on, the boss has forbidden me from talking without his permission except where the company is not involved. That said, I am first and foremost a FS enthusiast so I prefer to post here as a regular simmer than as a dev.... Jonathan "FRAG" Bleeker Formerly known here as "Narutokun" If I speak for my company without permission the boss will nail me down. So unless otherwise specified...Im just a regular simmer who expresses his personal opinion
August 18, 201312 yr If you are curious Jeroen, why don't you ask the Commercial Member? If for example you were to ask "Lance what makes you a CM?", I would say that I am trying to develop a better mesh product and once in a great while I might make a photo based scenery product. But how about why I don't have a banner ad in my signature? Right now I have nothing for sale and an inactive web site. Within a couple of weeks, if and it's a BIG if, the results of my labor bears some success I will be adding a banner. The constraints of being "orange" was described in a post I made last year; http://forum.avsim.net/topic/392684-rules-of-the-road-for-commercial-members/ Using me as an example again, I do not offer anything other than generalized comments (if any at all) when it comes to mesh and photo based scenery. But those are the limits on my participation within the forums and the community at large. Otherwise, I consider myself the same as any other member, except for the Red and Green people here and thus can offer some of my warped sense of humor or even a more insightful barrage of comments based upon topics as they may warrant. Remember, mesh is a good thing and as I like to say... it's always about the mesh, man!
