Hi Bryan,

Yes and speech recognition sorted as well.

I cannot understand what its wrong this time?  I click on the 'voice' button and it just flashes and stays off, and there's no 'System Mechanic' involved now since I formatted 2 weeks ago and ran 'ccleaner' too.

Any help would be more than appreciated.

If your speech recognizer is set to English - US, it should work.

Did it work right after you formatted 2 weeks ago?

And why did you run CCleaner?  I advise all users to never run those types of programs as they serve no value and often do more harm no good.

Hi Bryan,

No, I've only just installed it.  I've checked for UAC and DEP and I have run through the speech recogniser as well.

I ran CCleaner as recomended by my FS freinds. Thanks for the future advice.

Email me a screen shot of your Speech Recognizer page with the setting set to English - US, not English - UK.

I want to confirm you have it set right.

My email is:  admin *** at *** fs2crew.com

Thanks, got the screen shot.

Your speech recognizer is set to English - UK.

That's the problem.

As explained, it needs to be set to English - US.

If using Windows 8, you may need to download the English US language pack from Microsoft.

Cheers,

I have yet to hear my new FO

Problem: I cannot hear the FO's voice.

Solution:

  1. Check your audio setup.  If using a headset, ensure you've selected the associated Audio Device on the FS2Crew Configuration Panel.  As a test, make sure HS (Headset) is unchecked on the FS2Crew Main Panel.  This way all sound should be routes through your main speakers.  Sometimes users just have complex audio hardware setups, and they just need to experiment with their audio hardware settings.  Also consider getting a USB headset:  USB headsets can resolve a lot of problems due to their simplicity.
  2. FS2Crew uses the right and left speaker channels.  If using surround sound, ensure you have right and left speakers assigned and available.  One user mistakenly had his rear speakers setup as his his side speakers with no side speakers physically present.
  3. If you have a 5.1 speaker sound system, set your speaker configuration to "Stereo" via the Realtek Audio Manager (assuming you're using the Realtek Audio Manager).

Everything's running fine now Bryan, thanks for your help.  One small question please? I am using a USB headset but although I configure to use it, the F.O  speech remains on the main speakers. Is this unchangeable?

Did you press 'HS' on the Main Panel?

Are you sure the right audio device was selected on the Config Panel?

  • Author

Yes to HS and the correct audio device is selected on the config panel.
