August 21, 201312 yr Just wondering since United is retrofitting all there 737,767, and 757's with the new split scimitar winglet. Can we expect to see a update for the NGX with the split scimitar winglet ?? Cheers! August 21, 201312 yr Can we expect to see a update for the NGX with the split scimitar winglet ?? I would assume since there would be some sort of performance difference, unless PMDG obtain access to that such data (which most likely would cost money), then no. While I would like to see it, for the time it may take to model the 3D wing itself and then tune in the performance differences, I rather the team spent that time on other projects such as the T7 and 747v2. August 22, 201312 yr They did not tune the 747-8 expansion and there are huge differences between that and the -400. I think a visual update would be enough to suit many of us here. We are only talking about a few percentage points in savings. I doubt I would notice a difference in the performance if it was tuned properly. Chuck Biggins
August 22, 201312 yr There was already about a dozen topics on this. However I would like to add... It's a great idea! DO It!!! Are you sure they are doing the 757 - 767 to... The 757 is pretty much out of business with the bigger airlines, they are being sold to Allegiant airlines and that sort of smaller 2nd class airline. - - Tommy - -
August 22, 201312 yr I put scimitar in the search box and found four other topics that asked this question. I will link the best one for your reference. The response from Ryan is that they would look into it but that it would take a change to the flight model since there was no point in putting them on without getting the fuel savings that they are intended to provide. http://forum.avsim.net/topic/413703-split-scimitar-winglet-modeling-on-the-ngx/?hl=%2Bscimitar Great picture by the way! August 23, 201312 yr there was no point in putting them on without getting the fuel savings that they are intended to provide Well that's contrary to what happened on the -8 expansion. There's not a whole lot of money to be made on some scimitars. If they can't sell it in reasonable numbers then why bother. Chuck Biggins
