Which traffic add-on for 3.1do you suggest?
I am in the market for a traffic program and looking for opinions. I have looked at UT2 and MT6 so far. I don't mind a little cfg tweaking to get them to work but plug-and-play and active developer support should be considered. I do use VATSIM on a regular basis but sometimes I can not commit the time to sit in front of the screen without pauses and long breaks and I would also use the models in Vpilot. Thank you for your help. Chuck

April Fool's?
Came hear today to look for the new PMDG Airbus announcement thread and was disappointed when I didn't see it. Seems like there is something about it every year. This must mean it's in development! /s

Looks like an attach point to lift the wing with a crane or hoist.

are this temps to hot for video card
FlyVFR replied to Perry333's topic in Video Hardware: Monitors | Multi-Monitors | Video Cards | Drivers etcI had video driver crashes frequently (every flight) until I started monitoring my video card temps. I have a EVGA GTX 570 SC. I noticed when the temps crept up to around 60c I would get a video driver crash 50% of the time. This would happen 100% of the time at 65c. I know what temps video cards are suppose to tolerate but that is not the case with mine. Since then I've under-clocked it to stock chip clocks so it is no longer a SC. I now have an alarm set for 60c and when it creeps up I will minimize FSX and temps will drop back down to low 50s. I have been doing this for 6 months and have not experienced a crash in that time. So just be aware that when someone tells you your temps are fine that is not the case 100% of the time. You mileage may vary.

Release Date From The Service Pack?
The workaround for this is after your fuel is loaded you go to the PERF page and enter a number (any number) into LSK L2 of the cdu and overwrite the CALC number for the fuel, press DEL key and select LSK L2 again. This will switch from CALC to MAN and then back to CALC with the correctly loaded fuel. Every time I take the 777 up I will land and do a turn for another flight. It works everytime. Hope this helps. Flight Plan with PFPX
Those files should go to your <FSX>\PMDG\FLIGHTPLANS like it says. Not >Documents\Flight Simulator X Files. You need to tell PFPX where your <FSX>\PMDG\FLIGHTPLANS folder is by highlighting it in the list and clicking "Browse" at the top of the screen. This is where the PMDG FMC will look for the flightplan. When its set up correctly it will work. PFPX has worked flawlessly on all my PMDG aircraft including the .rt2 on the 747. The update has nothing to do with your problems. It's just a simple misunderstanding of what is happening when a plan is exported.

Can PMDG work with HiFi to bring us a working weather radar?
Hifi announced their next project called Active Sky Next. They are promising very big things that have never been done before. If it's all true all I can say is I'm amazed. This was one of the statements that stood out to me. I hope this is something PMDG can consider doing. I know they do not like to offer features that require other purchases from other developers but myself and I'm sure other Active Sky users would be willing to pay for the integration. Can this be done though the SDK? Thanks, Chuck Here's the link to the announcement. http://www.hifitechinc.com/forums/showthread.php?1147-The-next-version-of-Active-Sky&p=5407&viewfull=1#post5407

Virtual CDU - available again soon?
My money will be waiting for the 777. My NGX is sadly not going anywhere for a while. I just hope they keep compatibility with IOS 5. My IPad 1 is becoming is becoming less irrelevant every month.

Flight Plan with PFPX
You're flying in the US so IFPS does not apply to this flight plan. I copied this from a PDF that I googled. http://www.faa.gov/air_traffic/publications/ifim/us_restrictions/fdc_notams/pdf/EUROPE_EUROCONTROL_IFPS.pdf All aircraft flying into, departing from or transiting Europe within the General Air Traffic (GAT) Civil system must file an International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) flight plan with the Integrated Initial Flight Plan Processing System (IFPS) managed by the EUROCONTROL Central Flow Management Unit. The PMDG export option without the NGX in the title is .rt2 format for their older products. The NGX, 777 and newer products use the (NGX).rte option. Edit: Looks like Reno just beat me to it by a few minutes.

Soundcard for 777/FSX
If your headphones are USB and that is all you use then a sound card will do absolutely nothing for you. All the sound will be routed through the USB sound layer bypassing the sound card. That being said, ASUS and Creative make very good sound cards. Unless you are an extremely picky audiophile (sound engineer) you will not know the difference with any of them. Digital audio is about the best it's going to get as far as what the human ear can distinguish. Speakers will have a more profound effect on the sound quality then anything else. For most, a decent quality motherboard will have on-board audio card that is more than sufficient. Sound cards prove their worth when you pushing 5.1 or 7.1 sound through quality drivers with the latest games. The sound card will take over the duties from the cpu when using the speaker jacks in the back of the card. USB audio and most on-board audio card sound processing are left to the cpu. Probably not the answer you're looking for but it's the best I can come up with.

PMDG should take the lead in upgrading Microsoft Flight Simulator
My hope is Microsoft will make a deal with Lockheed to take the new and improved P3D code and attach an entertainment license to it. M$ for entertainment, LM for Corporate. This could work in favor of both companies since M$ could take advantage of LM's improvements and LM could take advantage of the masses the new M$ sim would draw in. M$ still owns the entertainment license to ESP. Don Mattrick at M$ Game Studios is out. Ballmer is one foot out the door. This opens the door to M$ rethinking their failed strategies. The new head of PC gaming is Steam's former boss, so he at least has some insight into the PC market and how to make it successful. All of course wishful thinking. Reality for me is I'm ready to flip the switch on X-Plane once the aftermarket matures to the level of FSX.

Thanks From An A2A Customer
That's great. I have the 172 and have found a bug yet. This is why PMDG gets all the positive attention in the hobby.

Odd Caution Warning
I would start from a different state to be sure. Don't even mess with the C&D PMDG created. Shut everything down like the FCOM states and then secure the aircraft using the supplementary procedure just to be sure nothing is missed. Save the panel through the FMC PMDG OPTIONS in the CDU.

Anyone break the 777 yet?
I just heard a strange sound a few minutes ago when I lifted the nose wheel off the ground. I checked the failures page and it said NOSE WHEEL IMBALANCE. Pretty cool! I wonder how the landing will be now.

Cool little discoveries
The mic button on the glareshield opens a comm1 2d panel.

Odd Caution Warning
Use a new cold and dark panel state, Dan Downs is a beta tester and he has a hunch that is it. I can confirm it also since I got the same thing when I used the cold and dark state PMDG created. Everything has been good since I created my own panel state, no need to wait for PMDG to do it.

GSX and PMDG 777
Umberto released the update and it works great like John said above. Just get the couatl live update. If you customized one yourself and you want the official one instead you have to delete the one you created first because it will take precedent. Its located in \Users\<username>\AppData\Roaming\Virtuali\Airplanes\ Just delete the aircraft folder. It should say PMDG 777-200LR, then update.

Anyone break the 777 yet?
I have service-based failures set to 20x so I got a BLEED HPSOV L status msg this morning. No warnings since the airplane considers it a minor fault. Repaired it after I landed. On my flight now I believe I am getting ADP C1 HYDRAULICS FAIL and ADP C2 HYDRAULICS FAIL when I was taxing out. It disappeared too quickly for me to confirm that was it. Popped up and disappeared twice for a few seconds each. I took off and it has not come back. The center hyd servicing level was good. Accelerated failures is probably my favorite feature so far.

Tail strike Ecl. How to do it?
The indication for the outflow valve position will appear on the upper engine display when you pull the knob out. Hold those switches until the valve needles drive to open.

Hydraulics amd fuel panel set for shutdown
Ok. Thanks. The engineer in me says the ECL should be in an order. You would think it would be more logical to put it in an order that agrees with the FCOM. I hope the non-normal procedures in the ECL are in a logical order.
-
Hydraulics amd fuel panel set for shutdown
FCOMv1 NP.21.53 (pg 251) says to depressurize hydraulics and turn off fuel pumps after engines fuel switches are set to cutoff. The ECL Normal Shutdown checklist has the hydraulics depressurize and fuel pumps set to off while the engines are running. Do you follow the ECL in order? I tend to believe the FCOM takes precedence. What do you think?
