I just find it strange that everything was working fine before the NOAA servers went down, and now still dont work. Doesnt make sense but that is what is happening.

Here is the detail message from trying to close opus with unhandled exception error with .net framework as title.

First things first. You are getting an error reported saying,

Unable to Extract and Decode GRIB Data

This normally implies that the FSXSERVER program was unable to write the data back into your OpusFSX\GRIB folder. Could you email me a list of all your files in that folder and check your sharing and security permissions very carefully again to see if this folder has become locked or protected. Check your OpusFSX install drive and folder and make sure the sharing and security permissions are OK and that the FSXSERVER program is being started in the current OpusFSX instal folder.

The other problem could be anything from your .NET needing repairing to an incorrect SimConnect version or something.

I should say the GRIB server is functioning OK because we have been downloading GRIB data and have no other reports of problems. If the server was down then you wouldn't have been able to download the cycle data file.

HighTowers, if you're flying on VATSIM and checked VATSIM weather, it seems that Opus is unable to fetch the data from the server for now. What I did to fix that issue is to select IVAO servers and uncheck "Use VATSIM for Missing Data", and I get weather updates from IVAO, which are pretty similar to VATSIM.

Thanks for tip and suggestion, but Im not flying vatsim. Its a problem with it writing to the folder. And all permissions and sharing is set. Its downloading the data that is for sure. At this point Ill just have to reinstall the entire thing from flight1 before I rip all my hair out and have none left.

You should have 36 csv and 27 dat files in the GRIB folder. The error message is indicating your GRIB data is invalid so best email us the files to check. You should ensure you don't have multiple copies of OpusFSX installed on your computer since this can cause problems.

If your licence is OK then there is no need to install the purchase file from Flight1 again or reinstall.

Have you installed any new addons lately, sometimes they can affect the permissions on folders or perhaps corrupt SimConnect. We have supplied a SimConnect.msi in the OpusFSX folder, you could try installing that but it does look like something is wrong with the GRIB files or a permissions problem if the software can't read or create the required files in the GRIB folder. Have you got any anti virus software running?

I'm sure we can sort it out, no need to loose any hair!

This is my entry.

My settings is as recommended. Tryed running as administrator and it still a no go.

Something to put in the miuxture (but should not matter that much)

I'm running on Win8 and the Opus folder is inside FSX folder. Other than that everything else is standard.

Did HighTower find a solution?

I just researching before trying to contact opus product support.

Btw, i did reinstall simconnect, gave the full opus folver permission to everyone have full control, no luck. Something should be happening with the downloaded gridb Data that is it not able to process it. i Can zip it and send it for support to analyze the data.

Just to answer my own question and solution to anyone else:

I updated the 3.34,didnt work.

Removed and instaleld again.

Didnt work.

Removed and installed in in the folder above fsx and it worked (in my case D:\Games\OpusFSX).

So if anyone face the issue it might be because it is inside fsx folder or because there is spaces in the path (mine was D:\Games\Microsoft Flight Simulator X\OpusFSX).

Installing it outside the folder worked. So i left this here if anyone face same issue and reach this page trough google (as i did).

Thanks

OpusFSX is best installed in its own folder, that is in <drive>:\OpusFSX and on a different drive to FSX. Being on a different drive means that all the lengthy disk access Opus needs to do when processing GRIB data, saving weather map data etc. will take place on a separate drive to FSX and will therefore not affect FSX which may be waiting to access the same drive.

The use of a dedicated OpusFSX folder also prevents many file access problems similar to the above which will prevent the GRIB data files being created amongst other things.

Glad to hear you got things sorted BrendakBR. But I would still advise uninstalling and reinstalling in c:\OpusFSX leaving the D drive to FSX. After uninstalling and reinstalling you can copy your DAT, CFG, ... CAM files etc. across and then delete the OpusFSX folder on drive D. Its always best to let FSX have its own dedicated drive if possible, or relocate Addons that may be needing disk access.

Many thanks for letting everyone know about your findings.

Stephen :-)
