August 22, 201312 yr Hi all, I have noticed some time ago that their are waypoints across the atlantic ocean and most of then have a letter and numbers such as-4270N,4050N and such...To enter these waypoints to fmc can i just enter it in,and it will go with the flow?? Thanks! Daniel Daniel Jeremy
August 22, 201312 yr Those points are simply latitude/longitude waypoints. Most NAT tracks use these between the entry and exit points. For instance 4050N is 40 00.00W and 50 00.00N. In the context of a NAT track, all longitudes are west, so that is left out to abbreviate to 4050N. Zero minutes and seconds are assumed in this format. NAT tracks will have 10 longitude steps typically so you get 40xxN, 30xxN,... or reverse if you're going westbound. The manual will have the format needed to enter those in to the FMC. You're looking for how to enter lat/long waypoints. Sorry, I'd share the format if I remembered it, but I haven't taken my NGX across the pond so I haven't used those points in a while. August 22, 201312 yr Commercial Member To enter these waypoints to fmc can i just enter it in,and it will go with the flow?? Yes. The nav database will pass the correct coordinate information to the computers so that it knows how to translate the shorthand into an actual Lat/Lon. Kyle Rodgers
