August 25, 201312 yr On a flightaware flight plan, what is MOWND298035? Specifically, I'm looking at a EDDF-KIAD route: MOWND298035 TOPPS ENE BAF BIGGO YORKE GANDE DBABE HYPER4 dv Win 10 Pro || i7-8700K || 32GB || ASUS Z370-P MB || NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1080 Ti 11Gb || 2 960 PRO 1TB, 840 EVO My Files in the AVSIM Library
August 25, 201312 yr No idea what it actually means, but because it's a flight from outside of the USA you won't get the full flightplan. What you have is the start of the end of the NAR (TOPPS) and the arrival route thereafter. I'm guessing this is a Lufthansa flight? If there is an airline from the US that flies this between these airports (i.e. United) then you should get a more comprehensive route string detailing the departure SID, the flightplan to the Atlantic Track, the NAR and then your arrival route. My apologies, I've just checked United 988 for today, and the route string is identical to the one you posted. Unfortunately flightaware's coverage outside the US isn't really that good. Jaime Boyle
August 25, 201312 yr Author Thank you. Please take a look at UAL933. dv Win 10 Pro || i7-8700K || 32GB || ASUS Z370-P MB || NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1080 Ti 11Gb || 2 960 PRO 1TB, 840 EVO My Files in the AVSIM Library
August 25, 201312 yr MOWND is a waypoint before TOPPS, probably the first one after it got off the NAT. I know some European (and basically non-US) flights on Flightaware don't publish the route info, so often you'll just see the US part of the flight plan. No idea what the numbers are after MOWND. I'd initially guess coordinates but they don't seem to coincide with that part of the globe.
August 25, 201312 yr Author No problem, thank you Jaime and metalmike. Based on your answer metalmike, MOWND298035 may define a waypoint departing MOWND on heading 298 for 35 nm, though I don't see why since it would be easier to use MOWND on J506. Like you both stated, flightaware must not have a source for posted routes from outside of the US. dv Win 10 Pro || i7-8700K || 32GB || ASUS Z370-P MB || NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1080 Ti 11Gb || 2 960 PRO 1TB, 840 EVO My Files in the AVSIM Library
August 25, 201312 yr Just a suggestion... I had a look for where MOWND was in relation to the flightplan. It lies on victor airways V314 and V318 which would lead me to believe that it would not be part of the flightplan. The '298035' could be a vector as you stated above, SAX. So I drew a vector in FSC from MOWND on a bearing of 298 at 35NM which seems to point to N111B airway, which is the NAR from DOTTY to TOPPS. From todays NATS, DOTTY ends on Track E. This, of course leaves you still with the gap from EDDF to the NAT entry. Using the map from flight aware, you could try and make up the rest of the route using the European airways. If anyone else could confirm this, it would be great! I just thought I would have a guess at it. Jaime Boyle
