August 30, 201312 yr Hi Omar. I thin it may be because you are using my config file. There's are two lines near the top: ;--Gets rid of opening loud movienomovie Comment out the second line, like this: ;--Gets rid of opening loud movie;nomovie That should do the trick. Cheers, D
August 30, 201312 yr Author Hi Dave, I'm actually using my own edited file from the time we last discussed the AA issue and I don't have the "nomovie" line in that file.
August 30, 201312 yr Hello. The intro Video is a "DivX"videoformat included by microsoft in Windows 95 an Windows 98 only. This video encoder was left out by the release of Windows XP. "Divx" encoder can be found and download on the internet. Also include a line on top in the flt3.cfg file: Iworkhere Just a quick note. Lars Peter . .
August 31, 201312 yr Hi. Thanks Lars. I've had the nomovie line in for so long (as soon as it came to my attention) I'd forgotten about the codec thing... Sorry Omar, I was wasting your time. And I still don't have a reason for the strange spider web-- it's gone completely from my memory. Cheers, Dave
September 1, 201312 yr Author Dave: No your not wasting anyone's time. Thanks for your help so far. Lars: Doesn't the game's movie use the Indeo codec? Would help if I could get some clarification on this.
September 1, 201312 yr Hello. Yes the Indeo codec was the original used for Flight2 and Flight3 windows 95 and 98. Lars Peter.
September 3, 201312 yr Author So do I need to install the indeo codec? Please note that the video was running prior to my recovering the PC hard drive and then installing the game.
September 3, 201312 yr Hello. Other codecs may be suitable, but you can make a Google search. Try to find the Indeo "iv5setup". This is a Exe file about 2mb. to install. Lars Peter.
September 5, 201312 yr Hi. You might find the complete K-Lite bundle, described here, worth downloading. D
September 9, 201312 yr Any further suggestions? ... hmmm ... At work, with a bad memory. What extension does the movie file have? I can't even remember what it's called, or even if I ever noticed it. If you have found it (assuming it does exist and isn't an integral part of fu3.exe) can you play it standalone with any application (WinAmp, Quicktime, Media player et c.)? I'm probably preaching to the converted here but check your flight3.cfg again. I know you wrote it has no nomovie line in it, but if the config file was originally edited by someone else they may have put the line in anywhere. Try notepad (or similar) and Ctrl+F to search for the text. I know nothing about Vista (one of the lucky ones) but is it possible to run FU3 in the old XP-style compatibility mode? That may make a difference. Cheers, D
September 9, 201312 yr Author Checked the config file again. No nomovie line. Also, the config file is my own. Tried running in XP compatibility mode but no improvement.
September 9, 201312 yr Hi. How about playing it on its own? And another one I can't remember: rename the config file and (here's the bit I'm not sure of) allow fu3 to create a clean new config file. Otherwise, get the original from the disc (that at least must be possible). Does the movie play then? Cheers, D
