The intro video for Flight Unlimited 3 does not run since I reinstalled the game post formatting the HD and reinstalling everything.

Could someone kindly help resolve this issue?


My PC config is:-

OS: Win Vista SP2

I thin it may be because you are using my config file. There's are two lines near the top:

 

;--Gets rid of opening loud movie
nomovie

 

Comment out the second line, like this:

 

;--Gets rid of opening loud movie
;nomovie

 

That should do the trick.

I'm actually using my own edited file from the time we last discussed the AA issue and I don't have the "nomovie" line in that file.

Yes the Indeo codec was the original used for Flight2 and Flight3 windows 95 and 98.

Try to find the Indeo "iv5setup".

At work, with a bad memory. What extension does the movie file have? I can't even remember what it's called, or even if I ever noticed it. If you have found it (assuming it does exist and isn't an integral part of fu3.exe) can you play it standalone with any application (WinAmp, Quicktime, Media player et c.)?

 

I'm probably preaching to the converted here but check your flight3.cfg again. I know you wrote it has no nomovie line in it, but if the config file was originally edited by someone else they may have put the line in anywhere. Try notepad (or similar) and Ctrl+F to search for the text.

 

I know nothing about Vista (one of the lucky ones) but is it possible to run FU3 in the old XP-style compatibility mode? That may make a difference.

Checked the config file again. No nomovie line.

 

Also, the config file is my own.

 

Tried running in XP compatibility mode but no improvement.

How about playing it on its own?

 

And another one I can't remember: rename the config file and (here's the bit I'm not sure of) allow fu3 to create a clean new config file. Otherwise, get the original from the disc (that at least must be possible). Does the movie play then?
