Carenado Piper Cherokee is out!

Featured Replies

I just visited the Carenado site, and their new Piper Cherokee was released today!I'm downloading now. Can't wait to check her out!Regards,Al.

Ouch--price is a bit up there for this project.I have their V35, and I wouldn't blink at paying such a price with Flight1, Dreamwings, PMDG or Eaglesoft, but the "FS2004" update to the V35 had a few glaring errors in it (i.e. missing polys, parts), and Carenado never returned one email. They just don't seem to believe in mdl updates after an initial release, unless they can collect money for it (as they did when they upgraded their V35 from FSDS 1.x to FSDS 2.x so FS2004 users could enjoy it). Since no model is ever perfect, I don't think I'd gamble again especially since they keep inflating their prices.-John

I dont normally rave about new aircraft that are released, but I have to say that this is one of the nicest small GA aircraft I have flown to date.It looks great, flies great, hardly any impact on fps, and the animation of the pilot is some of the best I have seen.IMO its worth having.RgdsAidihttp://www.avsim.com/pages/0100/avsim_sig.jpg

How are the sounds? They don't really mention anything about that in their blurb. _Josh

Maybe I'll have to give it another look then--I trust your opinion...I just wish these payware aircraft would show up on my CC Bill as "Flowers" or "Groceries"--the raised eyebrows from my wife have really put a dent into payware purchases :)

Sounds are reasonable. Not one of Carenado's strong points I don't think. I own their Cessna Centurion, which I really love flying, but its sounds don't do the superb model and VC any justice at all. Similar story here with the Cherokee. They are a little 'tame'. BUT, still doesn't detract from another BRILLIANT model, and lovely VC. And she flies beautifully!Really enjoying her!And as has already been mentioned....the pilot/passenger animations are absolutely amazing! Very realistic! Really adds to the experience of 'pottering' about in this fine little puddle jumper!

Well, I was very disapointed with the quality of the C210 - so I will need to see a lot of evidence that the panel images are far clearer and cleaner than the Cessna. The 210's panel was very poorly cropped and cleaned up in that release. I almos never fly it.

I have the Carenado Bonanza and the Mentor, but it's hard to justify this Cherokee when I already have the Dreamfleet Archer and the Aussie Sim Warrior. Does the Cherokee have the tinted windows like the Bonanza? I wish that could be turned off as looking out the tinted windows tends to wash out the scenery.Jim

"Does the Cherokee have the tinted windows like the Bonanza? I wish that could be turned off as looking out the tinted windows tends to wash out the scenery."I was able to turn off the Bonanza's tinted windows by clearing the alpha channel for the bitmap. I used a paint program--I can't recall which--to adjust the "brightness" of the alpha so the effect wouldn't be abrupt, combined with DXTBMP to apply the changes.-John

Need help with the strobes, are there any, if so they don't work on mine.I can't seem to find a strobe switch either. If I'm missing something can someone please put me straight :-) ThanksAnthony....

Maybe I am using the wrong email address--which one are you using? Also, since I use my hotmail address to send such email, I wonder if they may have a spam filter which is filtering out email from the hotmail domain?-John
