September 12, 201312 yr If you have on-board audio! This is for those with Sound related lag and stutters. Shortly - if you have on-board audio, check that everything is connected properly and that on-board audio really works! Until now, i used USB headset becouse of my neighbors. I choosed some cheap logitech headset and i was satisfied with result. Now, a couple of days ago, after Dave(Q400_Flyer)suggested me that i should buy the soundcard to get rid of touchdown lag, i decided to investigate how everything about sounds works. I learned how sounds are procesed for the first time. Most of modern mainboards comes with on-board audio. This is not bad at all like some people think, even realtek is not bad at all, as i thought. I had my headset pluged in front panel. That was wrong. Realtek on-board audio was not used at all. All sounds was procesed by CPU only. This was a reason for all lags, stutters, and maybe freezes too. My version(and probably most of them)of RealTek on-board sound has only analog output. So no way to connect with USB, unless you have USB adapter or something like that. If you have those lags and stutters, especially on touchdown, and you don't have soundcard - this is what i did and i suggest you to check: - download latest Realtek driver here: http://www.realtek.com.tw/downloads/downloadsView.aspx?Langid=1&PNid=24&PFid=24&Level=4&Conn=3&DownTypeID=3&GetDown=false The second one is for windows 7 / 64bit. - install Realtek driver and restart PC when prompted - Read manual about your mainboard, find if you have realtek(or other)onboard audio - find the right otput and connect your speakers / headset only there. Mine is on back panel, i never used it becouse there was no USB. - start Realtek HD audio manager and ensure that everything is configured properly. I don't know if i can help here, becouse not everybody will use headset. But don't forget to check advanced settings: Just ensure there that everything is set correct, if you have microfon and front panel Check that Realtek HD speakers are really used. You can check this under playback devices, it should be like this - In Realtek HD audio manager i have selected maximum studio quality of 24bits, 48000hz - when you start FSX, go to settings / sounds and select right devices: For those with on-board audio with analog output only, i can recommend headset i use right now, good price and excelent result http://www.amazon.co.uk/Hama-PC-Headset-Cs-408-Stereo/dp/B00006JAX7 Results was amazing for me. CPU is not procesing sound anymore, so there will be no touchdown lag, stutters, and maybe freezes will disappear too. I must say this - the quality of sounds PMDG has put in this plane is insane, i'm still blown away! I just landed with 777 at FSDT CYVR with steady 30fps(i have gained some fps for sure!), not a single stutter and the best smoothness i had with FSX in whole my life! Touchdown sound was amazing and spot on, no more lags. And i am still stunned by 777 sounds, i could hear them in all their glory for the first time. Let me know if this works for you! Zeljko Budovic
September 12, 201312 yr Author Yes. This is if you have on-board audio, which is something most popular types of mainboards has. If somehow your mainboard don't have on-board audio, you need to buy soundcard Zeljko Budovic

September 12, 201312 yr Author i didnt experienced any sound stutters etc I said this is for those with touchdown lag and sound stutters. Maybe your mainboard has USB output for onboard audio, or you don't have very high settings in FSX so CPU has enough power to proces sound without performance hit. There is a explanation for sure. But this days lot of people complains about touchdown lag. You can find a couple of threads about this. This fixed it for me Zeljko Budovic
