Today I got that advisory message too on the upper EICAS: DISPLAY SELECT PNL

 

Problem is I cannot change the display of the lower EICAS anymore by pressing door, fuel, elec, hyd, etc.

 

FCOM2 says: left, center or right CDU control of the display panel is active.

 

I don't understand.

 

What should I do have manual control of the lower EICAS display?

On CDU MENU where you can select FMC, PMDG SETUP, etc., you probably have DSP CTL set to ON.  The CDU is controlling the display. Select OFF and you should be back to normal.  See also FCOM 10.10.64

In my case I had to set DSP CTL to OFF from the right CDU. It was not available on the left CDU.
