Erm, liveries?

Featured Replies

I've joined the club very late with Bert's fixes actually allowing me to enjoy the plane. But now I wonder why there are so little (read no) repaints available. :(

I've looked into the Avsim library and over at OZx and didn't find a single new paint for that fast prop plane. Any tips, help of plans? I don't even have specific requests, just give me some more colours. B)

I speak from experience...The texture set up that Carenado has adopted is not painter friendly!

The "Hodge-Podge" layout makes it very time consuming to paint anything!

Even taking taking one of the provided color schemes and simply copying it to change the colors will make you pull out your hair!

I've given up!

I've repainted the Carenado Baron with my flying club's colors.  It came out pretty good.

I used DXTBMP and PaintShopPro X6 for converting and painting.  One of the club members told me how to do it in Photoshop, however, I don't have Photoshop, but it was the same.  It wasn't hard once I figured out the steps, which took about 30 minutes.  I would open the BMP file with DXTBMP, save a copy of the "Alpha" file (what ever it is..ha), "send" it to PSP X6, create a layer, paint (there's another step which I can't remember what it's called without opening everything up), save it as a PSP file, reload the PSP file into DXTBMP along with the saved Alpha, then save as a DXT5 Bmp texture back into the texture folder.  Of course I copied the texture to another directory to do all this first.

I'm going to experiment with the other Carenado aircraft I have, and if I remember, I'll let you know how they come out.

I'm not sure it's technique or program...just a bunch of coffee and whole lot of time!

Here's one for the TBM I started...You can see the layout? they are all set up the way PhotoShop would save them. Lining everything up is where the fun begins....

Thanks for explaining a bit why repainters may have a hard time with the 'paintkit'. A shame since this would be such a welcome target, eh?

I don't normally do request's any more...But if you have something in mind PM me and I'll see what can do for you....

Don't worry, nothing urgent, Jeff. I think I was just aiming at having a few more options. I could actually think of fictional paints, like those. http://aussiex.org/forum/index.php?/files/file/2508-realair-duke-turbine-zk-nzl-black-magic-version/ You know, something underlining the speedy character of the plane and not giving much on 'nobody will buy that' attitudes which a rw seller would have.

So if you happen to perform such a thing, with colours and ideas totally up to you and if this work brings you some fun, please let me know.

Not to forget, your offer is very much appreciated.

Sure. Looks cool. Perhaps we can give it a Canadian reg to please the man from my signature. He did/does a lot for the Carenado fans, so why not run a C-Bert or something? I saw he was using that reg on other planes, so I guess it would be ok. ^_^

We are surrounded by Carendo fans and helpers of course (one being you, painting their planes). :good:

So that's plan, the nice repaint with the Canadian reg, Jeff?

Yup....I would show you some in progress pic's....But that could fill volumes of off site picture uploads!

Yesterday I spent an hour or so, trying to figure out the NACA intakes under the exhaust...only to come to the conclusion....that they are/seem to be modeled wrong!

Which of course makes everything "Not want to line up right!"

Took awhile to get it to look right. Any way I'm hoping this weekend I'll have it done.

Do you own the 206H?...I will need a Lab Rat...Errr....Some one to test something I've got going on....The new "Swishey, Swooshey, Sweepy schemes don't do anything for me...I like the older style paint schemes!

And yes "C-BERT" will be the reggie, on her.

You da man, Jeff. Modelled wrong, on a Carenado, you sure? :O ^_^

Regarding the C206H. Yes, since not too long ago actually. The 'best Carenado plane' thread got my thinking, and buying. I can test liveries.

I wasn't sure at first....But after I stopped cussing...Cuz you see even though it is a straight line on the side, "Kinda"...when I got the nose, using what few pic's I have of "0GC" it didn't line up with the black trim stripe. You know it's like a snow ball going down hill.....

Well then if you like "Retro"....you should like this one...

HEHEHE....PM with a e-mail addy that will be able to the files.
