November 23, 200421 yr Hi All,I'm in dire need of some help here.Lately, I've started having this problem wherein I click on my desktop MSFS 2004 icon, the open screen comes up and thereafter nothing happens. It refuses to load up.I installed the FS9 update pack, but since I use PMDG's add on 737NG's, it caused some problems with the FSUIP program - which I coudn't rectify. Subsequently I've uninstalled the update pack, even re-installed FS 9, tried all suggestions as recommeded in the flight sim support site. Any thoughts?HELP! HELP! November 23, 200421 yr Reinstalling DirectX will often (maybe even usually) fix this hung-at-the-splash-screen problem. In any event, it can't hurt anything and it doesn't take long to do. There is nothing to uninstall as DirectX is made to just reinstall right over itself. If you need the latest copy you can get it here: http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details...&displaylang=en (don't worry that it says it's for developers - this is the one you need for the reinstall).Doug Intel 10700K @ 5.1Ghz, Asus Hero Maximus motherboard, Noctua NH-U12A cooler, Corsair Vengeance Pro 32GB 3200 MHz RAM, RTX 2060 Super GPU, Cooler Master HAF 932 Tower, Thermaltake 1000W Toughpower PSU, Windows 10 Professional 64-Bit, 100TB of disk storage. November 23, 200421 yr Two other ideas - corrupt startup situation or corrupt FS9.cfg - when you uninstalled, did you delete the My Documents/Flight Simulator Files folder too? Also, there shouldn't be problems with the 737NG and FSUIPC, at all and particularly if you haven't loaded that plane yet - shouldn't prevent fs from loading...Do you normally start fs at the create a flight screen or in the cockpit? November 23, 200421 yr This might be a longshot, but your graphics card might be damaged. I had that happen recently with a brand new Radeon 800XE card in a new computer. Everything worked fine for awhile and then one day FS9 just wouldn't load. The card worked for normal programs but wouldn't kick into 3D for FS9. After re-installing FS9 and other tests, it turned out to be a bad card. I got it replaced under the warranty by Dell and everything's fine now.Lee Lee H i9 13900KF 64GB Ram 24GB RTX 4090
