September 23, 201312 yr Back to FSX with new rig. Quick question: Should I install FSGenesis global, UTX, FTX Global, and REX in that order after FSX install and tweaks per Paul Johnson and Word Not Allowed's recommendations? Or, does it make any difference? I will be running FSX off a dedicated SSD (250GB)--can I load everything else on the other data drive (1TB 7200rpm)? Does FSX need to be on the same HD as the OS? Thanks in advance. Rich Perry specs: i7-4820K oc'd to 4.8Ghz/Nvidia GTX 770 2GB PCIe 3. 16GB DDR3/2133Mhz RAM. Samsung 250GB SSD/Caviar 1TB 7200rpm HDD. SB ZX 5.1 sound. Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit.
September 23, 201312 yr I would install the order u listed. And no FSX doesnt need to be on the OS drive. Matt Wilson
September 23, 201312 yr Does FSX need to be on the same HD as the OS? There are theoretical arguments that seem fairly sound that it's preferred to separate OS & FSX on separate drives, however that was clearly the case w/ HDDs and very much less so w/ adequate sized fast SSDs. I opted for OS & FSX on a single fast 500Gb SSD and have fabulous storage performance & can therefore clone the entire drive for one fully integrated backup, which I prefer over dual drive configurations. You may need the 256Gb for FSX to accommodate future growth so probably best to stick w/ the 2 drive approach.
