November 28, 200421 yr Guys, has anyone with the necessary knowlede checked what this is all about:http://library.avsim.net/esearch.php?DLID=...&CatID=fs2004sd?Looks like a very useful utility to get some of the roads prolems solved.Any comments?Alex
November 28, 200421 yr I don't think I have the necessary knowledge but I might download this to have a look.
November 28, 200421 yr Now here is a crash dummy :-). Thx, I would be very interested in the results but currently can't pull off the time to do any "fundamental research" .-).Alex
November 28, 200421 yr Well, I downloaded it along with the coast data base and the SDK. The instructions are minimal and I'm not sure if they're complete enough for me to figure out. Maybe I'll drink a lot of coffee tonight and give it a try. There is also a program called Coast-Line-Maker that lets you alter coastlines, rivers, and roads. Be sure to get the update for FS9. It may be in the library or try a Google search.David
November 28, 200421 yr OK, I installed everything and followed the instructions as far as they go. Now I have an lwm.bgl and a vtp.bgl. The question is what do I do with them? I guess I'm supposed to know this but I havn't got a clue. Anybody know what to do next?ThanksDavid
November 28, 200421 yr I think you just need to put the lwm.bgl and vtp.bgl into a folder called "Scenery" and then just add the area like anyother FS addon scenery, using the FS scenery library function. If you make it work, let us know David, I'd be quite interested to hear about it.

November 29, 200421 yr Not necessarily too small. I would post any questions in the MSFS Scenery Design Forum. There are also several other programs, SBuilder and Ground2K4, that produce these types of terrain files.W. Sieffert Bill Sieffert
November 29, 200421 yr Well I found my mistake (at least one of them!) and am now getting much larger .bgl files. I made a seperate folder for them in FS9 like I do for most scenery addons, added to scenery library, but see no change in coastlines. I still have a couple ideas to try. If I can't get it to work I'll try a different program as suggested by W. Sieffert.ThanksDavid
November 29, 200421 yr Commercial Member Howdy,David, rather than testing the file directly in the sim it's often better to use a preview utility like LWMViewer: http://www.jimkeir.co.uk/FlightSim/LWMViewer.htmlOnce you've loaded your new shoreline file you can add the default files for comparison via right click > load this area.Haven't had a chance yet to test Auto Coast myself but it looks interesting. As the docs indicate the biggest issue will be to add a new landclass file in order to prevent water behind coastlines for some places. However, the new version of LWMViewer includes a landclass editing tool, which should help with that task as well.Cheers, Holger
November 29, 200421 yr Thanks Holger, looks like a great utility and just what I need. I'm thinking that maybe I have good .bgl's but perhaps for the wrong area. Will try it out tonight. And many thanks for all the excellent scenery work you've done. I use most of it and it really adds a lot to my "flying pleasure".CheersDavid
