October 5, 201312 yr Steve mentioned the RV Checkout, so I decided to give it a try. It has been a long time since I did it, and also since I last flew the RV. So, a checkout won't do me any harm. Taxi to the runway, this little baby is already really fast on the ground. Fly North along the coast. Wait, is this the one with the.... ...Bridge! Yes, it is. I remember the last time I flew under the bridge but chickened out in the ravine. It was just too scary and too fast. But, this time I went all the way until Walter told me to pull up out of it. Still just as scary and just as fast. B) Flying very low as usual. Treetop level, that's my style. Honokaa was a surprise. I wasn't too fast, but a little low and the trees blocked my view of the strip, so I came down on the grass right alongside. That's still good, isn't it? Anyway, I got the maximum points, but will probably come back and do it again. Land right, next time. Best regards. Luis Hot, humid Caribbean paradise!
October 6, 201312 yr Good job Luis. It is still fun! Walter recognizes when I did loops and rolls and flew inverted and had a comment for each. Steve
October 6, 201312 yr The Alaska RV-6 IFR landing challenge is really disconcerting. I had a hard time following my instruments and not getting disoriented.
