  1. Random in the same way the following is random? Or does it actually produce different results each time you use it? (xkcd)
  2. Is the SimProp library on CodePlex updated or was it unaffected?
  3. Try checking the ContentErrors.log file in %appdata%\Microsoft\Flight. If it has any information it may be useful to include here.
  4. I actually created a utility to do the latter, but I was never satisfied with the depiction. The maximum reported visibility of a METAR is 10sm and when setting the visibility of the HazeLayer to that the weather often becomes misty. Also I tried using some of Steve's libraries to do live content reloading, but I must not be doing things properly, as the file never seems to get unlocked, making reloading themes problematic.
  5. You can fly the existing missions and challenges or collect Aerocaches to increase XP and in turn, increase level, I think. Otherwise you might be able to edit the ProfileData.xml file in %localappdata%\Microsoft\Flight\Players\.
  6. Yep, here's the link: http://go.microsoft.com/?linkid=9800616
  7. Just curious, what was your criteria for an airport to be important? Was there some data source of airport traffic that you used?
  8. Wow! Nice find.
  9. Link to the installer still works: http://go.microsoft.com/?linkid=9800616
  10. And from tail view!? What is this, an arcade game?
  11. You don't recognize the jet blast warning sign and the hotel off of runway 10? Princess Juliana (TNCM), of course!
  12. Yep, that's mine, and Steve is correct. There is a third party website, FSXDB, that has an searchable index of both default and selected Orbx airports from FSX.
  13. It comes in the World Region addon, available at FSDeveloper. Note that you must have the non-GFWL version of the Flight Toolkit (i.e. no multiplayer) in order for it to work.
  14. Yes, 7-Zip is great! Also, Kavinda, why are you using a Windows 8 theme for Windows 7?
  15. I thought that if you pause or go to the map your plane relocates to where you were before when you resume the flight?
  16. I think both living world and scheduled AI were removed. However, it might be possible to create custom missions with mission AI, similar to the landing aircraft in the aerobatics mission at Dillingham.
  17. If I weren't a real world student pilot, I'd likely agree with your assessment. I've had proper procedures and radio communications drilled into my mind too well to be able to truly ignore those things in simulators. Many IFR practice trainers and even NASA research simulations (and likely Level D as well as other full motion simulators) really don't go big on graphics -- they're all about procedures and realism. While it is annoying dealing with FSX addons at times, I've gotten to the point where I fly nearly default with a select few addons. I don't worry about tweaks or adjusting settings anymore, and to be truthful, the sim runs just fine without it. I do agree about Flight being polished, though. It's well done; the flight dynamics feel much nicer (especially at the back end of the power curve), the shadowing has vastly improved, the sight picture seems better -- all things that are nice, but in the end, unfortunately doesn't completely make up for what it lacks.
  18. I'd still disagree with "pure GA." If I want to make a realistic general aviation flight, I'll still do it in Flight Simulator X. Why? I can start at parking spots, I can tune the radio and get ATIS/AWOS/ASOS (weather), I have GPS for reference (radio frequencies, runway length, etc.), and I can have actual people being air traffic controllers (as well as have the option of using VATSIM or PilotEdge). However, as for practicing power off landings or just landing on random stuff, I enjoy (and prefer) Flight.
  19. Yes, I just posted a screenshot of that. I did it before you, though.
  20. Can you land on the water tower, though?
  21. If you're online, Aerocaches are only loaded from the Microsoft Flight server (which Steve's toolkit emulates). Flight only loads Aerocaches from Core\Aerocaches\Core_Aerocaches.spb if the user is offline. Swapping regional Aerocaches would require Steve to swap the set of Aerocaches on the server.
  22. Although it seems to be the unanimous opinion, I agree in thinking all current Aerocaches should become permanent, and future community ones can start as new AotDs.
