I just noticed today that no matter what aircraft I us, the throttle goes to full. I have recalibrated my throttle quad and don't use fsuipc. when I close the throttle with either a key sroke or throttle quad, it just goes right back up. Could something spontaneously changed in the fsx,.cfg?

Yep - seems to happen more often in Windows 8 (anecdotal reports).  Check your Controls configuration - and be sure to check things that you think would NEVER have anything to do with the throttle (like yoke, joystick, rudder pedals) as weird and mysterious mapping of things that make absolutely no sense do occur - one of my favorites:  Ailerons mapped to the throttle - makes for some very interesting take-offs.

 

Is this new?  (I assume so by the way your original post was phrased).  Did you do anything between the time it worked and the time it stopped working correctly (add-ons, etc)?

One suggestion that I have seen related to this 'random assignment' problem is to copy your fsx.cfg file and save it as a back-up (something like fsx-cfg_yyyy-mm-dd.BAK so you know the date of the last saved it).  Then, if things start acting weird you can simply delete the current fsx.cfg and copy the most recent back-up and rename it fsx.cfg.

 

The problem with this is that you need to be diligent in updating your backup copy so that it has the most current configuration changes - but it is a valid suggestion and doesn't hurt to make the backup copy - you can decide if it is new enough to use or go through the steps of fixing whatever went awry depending on what, if any changes you might have made in the interim.
