Which Coolsky Super 80 to buy?

Featured Replies

Hello,

I just bought Fly The Maddog 3.3 and I'm kinda hooked on the MD-80. So now I'm thinking about getting the Coolsky Super 80 as well. But which version do I get? Is it the Super 80 - Ultimate Airliner Edition from Fligh1? Or is it the Super 80 Pro from Coolsky?

BTW, I have the DC-9 Classic and it's awesome!! I love these McD planes! They are so different and have much more character than Boeing jets.

Thanks and cheers!

Nicolas

The Ultimate Airliner Edition contains both the pro and classic version of the coolsky Super 80. The classic is the steam gauges and cone tail. I would get the UA Edition if you're becoming a big MD fan!

Thanks! Do you think I need the Coolsky Super 80 since I own Fly the Maddog?

I think it depends on what you are looking for in your sim. I don't have the coolsky md80, but I do have the dc9, and I also own the flythemaddog. If you are all about the realism and don't care as much about visuals, you won't gain anything from the coolsky as the flythemaddog is the most realistic md80 simulation you can get. However, the visuals leave a bit to be desired. So if you are big into visuals, the coolsky may be what you are looking for

The Coolsky has a great tutorial mode and you'll generally get better frame rates from it compared to the Maddog.

The Leonardo MD-80 is a far superior simulation IMO.  The Coolsky has better visual model, especially on the outside.  The Coolsky is also very user friendly.  The Coolsky one falls short in the little details of performance such as cruising at 73 percent N1 (should be about 83 percent and is accurately depicted by the Leo Maddog).  Also the AP is a little finicky on the Coolsky; not following the course sometimes or randomly deciding to go after a past way point with no way to redirect it.  I have had none of these small problems with the Leo Maddog.

Thanks for all the replies. I'm just gonna stick with the Maddog for the moment. The visual benefits of the Coolsky are nice, but the accuracy of the systems is more important IMO.
