How to find problematic repaints ?

Featured Replies

Hello everyone, I have this question and I'm dying to get and answer for it.  Right now its week 2 of my AI Flightplans updates, I know that some repaints that I insert in my FS9, can cause some serious problems, for now the only problem they cause at some airports, is making all other repaints grey,, like they dont even have textures, as well as some buildings loose textures as you change camera view, eventually the sim might crash too. I want to know, is there a way to find out which of these repaints cause that error ? because finding it manually can take another 2 weeks.

Maybe I'm wrong and theres another cause to this, if so, what can it be ?

Thank You very much for you response, although I never heard of the terms OOM and CTD  lol  I will try to figure it out.

Still, if anyone else knows something more about this, please share with us your advice.

OOM = Out of memory (a failure message indicates that your PC has run out of available RAM)

CTD = Crash to desktop. FS2004 suddenly stops working. In my other thread, I used this term slightly uncorrect as I experienced the well known message "FS9 has encountered a problem and needs to be stopped" or something this way.

Oh ok, learning something new, I never had to deal with these before and I use my FS9 for almos 10 years now lol

Thank You for your help :)

If you open the AI aircraft folder and open the .air file, look for aircraft type=. If the value is 2, change to 0 and the AI will show in your FS9 Aircraft selection menu. You can then choose that AI plane. If it does not rotate or textures are bad you see it then.

Then you can correct the problem or delete the livery.

Also if you have the program DXTbmp, you can try to open the texture files of the suspected aircraft, and if the program says that this is not a regular image, then you have the problem. You can open it up and re-save it in the proper format...  I had to do that with a rogue Transavia 73G not too long ago.

I also had the texture disappearing act happen to me because of the latest WofAi American Airlines traffic file.. Apparently, one of those AA birds has issues..

There's also AI traffic editor which will find the suspect AI and allow you to display it. If it's displayed as checker board something's wrong. If it displays correctly all is good. It checks for the correct texture, model and air file.
