October 16, 201312 yr Hi All, After reading and seeing screen shots of FSX running in DX10 mode I gladly handed over some $$ and got the DX10 fixer. One thing I noticed having converted to DX10 and enabling BLOOM is lights now do not have a soft glow/halo like I was used to seeing in DX9 mode. Is there a slider that needs to be set to show this in DX10? Thanks for the help! Mike

October 21, 201312 yr Fixer Manual, page 30, Mike. Ron spends too much time painting aeroplanes and has no time to read manuals... Of course, though - who reads manuals?.. October 22, 201312 yr Manuals? Pfft! I knew that page 30 stuff anyway. I did, I tell ya, I did! EDIT: I've just had a read of the manual. Quite interesting. For the record, I've been on DX10 for two consecutive days...A record. I'm learning to live with the shimmering GPS in the VC. Only the GPS, not the rest of the instruments (pop up unaffected strangely enough) and the little twinkling lights from Orbx airports. The World is divided into two groups. October 22, 201312 yr  What's your AA set to in the Fixer, Ron? i7 [email protected] | 32GB RAM | EVGA RTX 3080Ti | Maximus Hero VII | 512GB 860 Pro | 512GB 850 Pro | 256GB 840 Pro | 2TB 860 QVO | 1TB 870 EVO | Seagate 3TB Cloud | EVGA 1000 GQ | Win10 Pro | EK Custom water cooling.

October 22, 201312 yr 8X. Box(8X) and Supersampling in CC. Tried it on 4X...same result. Ron, have you tried one of the (2)16x settings available in the Fixer? Just for testing purposes to see if they diminish or go away? I'm not a guru on configs but maybe someone that is, can figure it out for you. Maybe someone like, oh say, PJ! Danny
October 22, 201312 yr Hi Danny... no I can't .. I'm one of these easy-going "if it looks like an airport - has lots of aeroplanes sitting around, a runway and a few hangars" - then it's an airport... Regarding AA, CSAA, MSAA, SGSSAA, FXAA, etc.,... I have a brother who use to go to AA.... does that help? ..and then there's that word that Stephen used..."guru"...grrrr... Steve is a guru. These guys are guru's. The only thing I can figure out for Ron is how to turn a Chipmunk on the ground.. B) Lighting is still somewhat broken in DX10, and though Steve has fixed many pieces of the problem - it's a part of what he calls "the Master Bug", and is still working at discovering and fixing, or finding work-rounds that will work for everybody. Lighting intensity is one such issue - in DX9 it had the benefit of a long development history: DX10 is a new graphics engine, and will make things work differently - like AI nav lights. For this reason - AA - Fibr_Frm_Tim_Frct, Textr_Bndw_Mult, LOD, etc., - all these fsx.cfg parameters respond very slightly "differently" to an equivalent setting for DX9. The CPU doesn't manage graphics memory anymore, so it has a little better performance. Lots of subtle differences. It's like when the switch was from FS98 to 2000 - then 2002 - 2004 - FSX SP1. Remember the mess from SP1 to SP2?? It's a learning curve, and it has the benefit that there's not a lot that's outstanding problems except the lighting. The bigger issue is one of scenery vendor participation, and even that's changing, and fortunately a number are now leaning more in our direction - like Fly Tampa, who have "embraced" Steve's Fixer, and are actively working at retro-fitting the earlier FSX releases. (Stoopid attempt at humour removed by me.) October 22, 201312 yr This thread has wandered off course a bit, sorry Mike. But just to hijack it completely..16X in the fixer? Mine at least only goes up to 8. Where are you from Danny? Oh, I see, Texas! You must have one of the bigger Texas style fixers. Do I take it 'peej', that there is no answer to my distressing GPS flickering? (Stoopid attempt at humour removed by me.) All the Best, peej AA is for quitters. ^_^ I really didn't get into this until about a year ago so I missed all the fun. But I've been doing a "ton" of reading and watching who is and isn't moving to DX10 as well as DX9. I can see where it would help their cash flow supporting DX10 as well as DX9. It was a no brainier for me to buy Steve's fixer. There are still some light issues but in time, all will be well as it can be. He's doing the workaround on the AI lights so I'm a happy camper on that. Exactly. Every system is different with different results so I can see where it's going to take time. At any rate, I'm still learning and eavesdropping on all of the conversations. I like your interests. Danny
October 22, 201312 yr Here's what should be there, Ron: ...but re: the "twinkly" Orbs lights - you might do what Manny is doing, and what I have done, too, and that was to play with different halo.bmp's, until you find one you like.. The in-dash gps - I use 8x CSAA in the fixer, which give me 4x SGSS and I don't use the gps, so I can only wheedle out of it by suggesting that "someone else" (preferably a guru...) might/will chime in with a more palatable answer. @ Danny I like your interests. :lol:Only part-time nowadays, Danny - becoming far too old.. the booze is still enjoyable, though. "Southern Comfort".....mmmmmm..... aaaaaahh!.... how's that for a bit of hijacking? All the best, pj i7 [email protected] | 32GB RAM | EVGA RTX 3080Ti | Maximus Hero VII | 512GB 860 Pro | 512GB 850 Pro | 256GB 840 Pro | 2TB 860 QVO | 1TB 870 EVO | Seagate 3TB Cloud | EVGA 1000 GQ | Win10 Pro | EK Custom water cooling.
October 22, 201312 yr Whoa! That's an impressive list! I've got None, 2, 4 and 8. <_< A re-download looks to be in order. Having said that, does the Fixer take it's cue from the graphics card control panel?
