Question before purchase

Featured Replies

I've been using FS2Crew for a while however I have a few aircraft that aren't covered, for this I thought I could use MCE but I have a question before I buy.

With FS2Crew you press start and the FO goes ahead quietly turning on the overhead switches. I have looked at various videos on Youtube about MCE, some has the user telling the FO what to switch on, some tell him to power up but he calls out every switch he touches. This seems very unrealistic so my question, is there a way that he can do these task quietly?

I assume MCE uses text to voice so does this mean that my MCE first officer can have the same voice as my VoxATC first officer?

Thanks in advance for any help

Hi there. You can download MCE and have full use of it as a time limited demo. You have the options of getting your first officer to tell you every switch he touches or simply notify you when the whole procedure is complete. You are not set to a fixed recording, if you dont want to wait 5 minutes before he reads the checklist or performs the next flow, simply ask for it, if you have a modification you want to make to the checklists or flows, even creating your own, then you can do so yourself, it is easy and fun. David Herky has posted some incredible videos of some of the stuff he gets MCE to do, look for him on You Tube, highly recommended.

I assume MCE uses text to voice

Although MCE supports TTS voices, since 2011 we have moved to using pre-recorded voices. We currently have 6 FO voices. Two of them ship in the Demo package and 4 others that you can freely download from website. Make sure you do that when having a go at the Demo

I'd say, TTS voices would be the most useful with flight attendants because they allow you to script endles virtual conversations with cabin crew.

I mean you can create your own voice commands to talk to FA and get the latter to reply with anything you write. Well at least you can do that in the virtual world.

So today I downloaded the demo version from the MCE website. Installed and allowed MCE to make the relevant changes to my system. Started MCE, loaded up my FSX as requested, allowed FSInsider to run and then got a message saying I reached the maximum allowed flights for the demo version. It appears the number of demo flights appears to be 0 because I had not even loaded an aircraft yet, let alone started a flight.

Actual message:

Thank you for your interest in MCE!

The trial period is over, or the number of runs allowed was reached.

blah blah blah.

Doesn't give me great confidence in the software.

Doesn't sound right, just send an email to mce support, they can enable the demo version for you. I could not work out mce when I first got the demo, and support extended it for me.

Same happened to me, as well. Thought it was due either to my other MCE installation locked to the Aerosoft Airbus Extended or to the fact that I had downloaded the demo version so much earlier.

The development team may want to check how their demo version is actually configured.
