November 3, 201312 yr When trying to fly from Chicago to Washington Dulles, the SID for Dulles is rather long and when typing it all into the FMC it will not take it all due to the VNAV saying VNAV log full. Was just wondering if there was anyway to increase the size of the log file or if anyone else has gotten this message. Its not a big thing. I just have to enter half of the flight info and then type the rest 2/3 of the flight... Thank you David Corkran.
November 4, 201312 yr David I have never seen that message before and I know of no way to increase the size of the file your are talking about. The arrival for KIAD from KORD is GIBBZ2 STAR with the transition being MGW. The SID might be at KORD but it certainly would not be at KIAD. SIDs are used for departure and STARs are used for arrival. You shoud not have to type all of the waypoints for the STAR. If you select a runway and transition in the FMC, You should then be presented with the STARs available for that runway. Select the STAR and transition. Execute and all the waypoints you talked about typing should automactically appear on the leg pages. Michael Cubine Michael Cubine

VERT PATH FULL, you mean? If so, I can't remember what the solution was. I've gotten it once or twice, but haven't in quite some time. For what it's worth, as Michael mentioned, you shouldn't have to hand-enter all of those fixes, altitudes and speeds. You should select the STAR from the DEP/ARR page. If you did not know this, it would be wise to fly (or at least read) the two tutorials that came with the aircraft. There's a ton of great information in both of the tutorials. Kyle Rodgers
November 4, 201312 yr Commercial Member Kyle, you probably already know this but the FMC will get full if you try to enter too many waypoints. November 8, 201312 yr Author Thank you for all of your help. I was entering everything correctly, but the GIBBZ star for KIAD had way to much information in terms of speeds and altitude changes for the FMC, so I deleted a lot of them and just entered what I definitely needed.
