Best simulated aircraft in X-Plane 10

Featured Replies

The Antonov AN-2 by Redeyes Design Bureau is an amazing accomplishment as far as X-Plane goes. The fidelity of systems is beyond reproach and they (redeyes) have gone to great lengths to replicate this (the world's largest single engine bi-plane) remarkable aircraft. Just taxiing this beast is an exploit (a unique compressed air system brakes wheels individually using the rudder pedals and a finger brake). Starting the engine requires many steps, just as in the real plane. Engine management in flight is critical, get it wrong and it will malfunction, down you'll go! Almost every switch is functional and required to operate the different systems. Fidelity of gauges is amazing and quite realistic for a plane of this era (built from 1947 till 1991). Getting this beast in the air and flying her is quite a rewarding experience, Navigation with the on-board radio equipment (vintage) is a test of piloting skills.

Anyways, in my opinion, this is the best of the best in this type of aircraft. If you've ever longed for a great bush plane, look no further. However, this is not for the uninitiated, a steep learning curve and reading the manual ( a few hiccups in the translation) is essential.

Now back to my checklists and flight prep.

Thx Michel!

A friend bought it and has exactly the same oppinion :-)

I'm tempted, but I already have the An-24... which will take me a lot to learn...

AMD Ryzen 5600x, 32GB RAM, GPU Nvidia RTX 3060 Ti 8 GB, 1 TB and 500 GB nvme2 SSD drives, HP 27" 60Hz LED monitor @ 1920x1080, T16000, Hotas from old X52 Pro, Saitek Combat Rudder Pro (2010 model)

I agree with this assessment of the plane! It's a brilliant achievement.
