November 18, 201312 yr Quick question, to those developing for V2.0 and privy to the beta platform; What is p3d 2.0 allowing you to do that FSX wouldn't? We've read that performance is better all round, and we know about the volumetric shadows. In your testing however you must have found other things which are easier or less taxing on the system. i.e; - Are higher resolution textures permitted for the same performance deficit? - Are higher resolution models permitted.......... Etc etc. I'd love to know exactly what developers are finding. Can you do a lot more to your products than you could with FSX?
November 18, 201312 yr Also, if I might add, just how much better is performance? I know this varies from computer to computer but based on an average maybe? FS2004 Forever
November 18, 201312 yr A question I'm sure many want to know. However, if I was a well known developer I'm positive I wouldn't utter a single syllable on the subject. If some do, I'm sure they will be vague like, with average settings or not maxed out. What we don't know is what the options are or what average or not maxed means. We know what the options are in FSX and I have a feeling that the amount of settings in v2.0 will increase lots so even if they give some vague indication, it will mean nothing as we have nothing to compare it too.
November 19, 201312 yr Moderator I would venture a guess that apart from screenshots, they are still under the NDA as to specifics until the release. Also, there's no subjective way to answer that as we have found with FSX. Too many system variables, too many user variables. What works for one doesn't work for another, etc. Best to forget the questions and decide for yourself. LM has a liberal 60 day refund which I believe will also apply to V2.0. A caution however, as I posted elsewhere, when I first installed P3D, I was so unhappy that I returned same after a week. Months later, I tried again, on the same system, only this time I did not preapply my FSX tweaks - and P3D was fantastic right "out of the box". November 19, 201312 yr Commercial Member I can tell you, since this was available for quite a while, is that now we can use 64 bit development tools (for example 3DSMax 2012 64 bits). Of course all versions of Prepar3D are still 32 bits. As usual, there are a lot of improvements that are "under the hood" that you will never notice but that we as developers are very grateful for.

They can't comment on technical aspects yet. So back to the waiting game.
