Good morning,

 

I seem to have a problem with the textures at Heathrow airport at night. This has only happened in the last few days and only at this airport?

 

I first noticed the problem with Aerosoft Mega Airport Heathrow 2008, uninstalled that, installed UK2000 Heathrow Extreme V2, had the same problem so uninstalled that and still have the same problem with the default heathrow but only when it starts to get dark and at night time?

 

I am completely at a loss as to what the problem could be as I haven't installed anything recently apart from the new version of AES 2.33 and I have uninstalled that too.

 

If anyone can help or have any suggestions, I would be most greatful.

You don't really say what the problem is with the textures but . . .

 

Heathrow is already one of the most scenery-intensive areas of Flight Simulator even without add-ons, so any additions (including realistic levels of AI traffic) can certainly put a strain on things. It may be that your computer is struggling to cope.

 

It might be worth experimenting with all additions turned off - AI, weather themes, etc. Also turn off everything running in the background (the Windows system tray can soon fill up with unwanted tripe) except your anti-virus etc. If things then work correctly, either an add-on is eating resources or your computer is unwell.

The problem with the textures are that some but not all ai aircraft textures are blank and the same with the airport buildings textures. This seems to be worse at night time.

 

But it is only at Heathrow. I have airports like Mega Airport Amsterdam & Mega Airport Madrid and other airports all seem fine, just a sudden problem with Heathrow that I can't figure out?

Having a blanc AI aircraft texture at night can only mean one thing, i.e. that a night texture is missing in the aircraft's texture file. Each AI aircraft (in your FS9 "Aircraft" folder) should have at least two different .BMP files, one for daytime and one for nighttime. AI Prop aircraft should also have a third prop .BMP file.

 

As far as the non AI aircraft airport textures are concerned I do not have any direct solutions for you, especially not when you say that your missing (or corrupt) texture problem occurs at two different versions of the same addon airport made by two well known professional developers .....and..... at the default airport.

 

John could be right that your computer is somehow struggling but even then the missing textures should appear sooner or later, especially when you are not panning around in very demanding external views. However, nighttime textures are normally far less demanding on both your CPU and graphics card than daytime textures are, so I find it very strange that your problem only occurs at nighttime ...and.....at the default airports.

 

Could you supply me/us with some screen shots, taken after about fivestatic minutes ?

I have done three screen shots as follows:

 

1. Default Heathrow during daytime

2. Default Heathrow during nightitme

3. Default Heathrow during nightitme after slewing away from the airport and then slweing back

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

I really have no idea what has happened, everything was fine four or five days ago.

 

I look forward to replies.

I have the FS9 UK2000 version of Heathrow myself and have no problems with it's night textures, neither do I have any such problems with the default version. In no way was I able to replicate your problems.

Very strange indeed but because you have problems with all three airport versions and with some of your AI planes it now seems that your problem does not lie within the airport sceneries themselves.

 

For me it now seems to be a rendering problem related to your graphics hardeware and, other than suggesting a driver update, I cannot help you any further.

I have figured the problem out, it's a seasonla problem. I tried it in Spring and summer and it works pefect, it seems that when in the Fall season and winter there is a problem.

 

I remember I had this issue years ago with Toronto airport but I can't remember how I fixed it so any help would be appreciated.

Just remembered it's the FS9.1 update, but I'm sure I already installed it. Anyway going to reinstall the update again just in case and see what happens lol.

I am having the same problem! I tried reinstalling the update but my pc just says it is installed. only happens at night  not dawn/dusk etc and i then get a CTD if i try to reset etc...any help appreciated!

Be sure to run the update uninstall before you attempt to do the FS9.1 update otherwise you will get that message. After you run the update uninstaller ( located in the FS9 root folder ) also be sure to remove the file named 'BACKUP' located in the FS9 root folder if the uninstall process does not remove it for you. Then you can apply the update with no problems.

Correct mebull. Someone gave me a link to another post about a problem with WOAI American Airlines Summer 2013 flightplans.

 

I checked this post, and it turned out this was also the problem I was having. In the WOAI American Airlines Summer 2013 flighplan, the TFS 777-200RR textures are set as DXT5, I simply changed them to DXT3 and voila, no more problems. Wish I had known this sooner as it took me days wondering what the problem was and me uninstalling and reinstalling FS9 which I didn't need to do.

 

I hope that this solution also works for everyone else.
