November 21, 201312 yr I bought this DX10 Fixer having the impression that it would work with my MAIW AI traffic however after installing and setting up the fixer none of my MAIW Traffic are even showing up in the sim. I was maybe expecting untextured models if I had a problem but the models themselves are not even there. They're just all gone and the ramps are empty. The way I understood it these would be legacy aircraft and would still work fine with the DX10 Fixer? Is this not the case? Brandon
November 21, 201312 yr Commercial Member Hi Brandon What you describe sounds as if they may use 8 bit textures which don't work in DX10 - these will often appear 100% transparent. Try ticking the 8 BIt Fix in the general shader options. DO NOT leave this set permanently as it breaks legacy scenery. With it set do the AI aircraft appear ok? See Chapter 10 of the manual. If so you need to convert the 8 bit textures to DXT1 as described in Chapter 14 - unfortunately you will have to do this for every AI plane with this issue. My FSX Analysis Blog
November 21, 201312 yr Did you let FSX create a new fsx,cfg, by any chance, Brandon? i7 [email protected] | 32GB RAM | EVGA RTX 3080Ti | Maximus Hero VII | 512GB 860 Pro | 512GB 850 Pro | 256GB 840 Pro | 2TB 860 QVO | 1TB 870 EVO | Seagate 3TB Cloud | EVGA 1000 GQ | Win10 Pro | EK Custom water cooling.
November 21, 201312 yr Author The 8 bit option did not work. I uninstalled the libraries and reverted back to DX9 and my old config. I loaded up the sim and the traffic is still not there. Now I am wondering if something happened prior to installing the fixer although I didn't notice it before. I did not let the sim generate a new config and I backed up my cig file prior to using the fixer. I am currently using my backed up CFG file again which was working fine but my MAIW traffic is still missing along with any other traffic besides Ultimate Traffic 2. This is weird! Brandon
November 22, 201312 yr OK, Brandon - a different way: Open up your fsx,cfg and check under: [Main] to see if the path to the MAIW traffic is listed there. It should look something like this:- SimObjectPaths.0=SimObjects\Airplanes SimObjectPaths.1=SimObjects\Rotorcraft SimObjectPaths.2=SimObjects\GroundVehicles SimObjectPaths.3=SimObjects\Boats SimObjectPaths.4=SimObjects\Animals SimObjectPaths.5=SimObjects\Misc SimObjectPaths.6=MyTraffic\Aircraft <<<<< in this case, MyTrafficX 5.4b Does your MAIW normally have a path here? Certainly UT2 has one here. pj i7 [email protected] | 32GB RAM | EVGA RTX 3080Ti | Maximus Hero VII | 512GB 860 Pro | 512GB 850 Pro | 256GB 840 Pro | 2TB 860 QVO | 1TB 870 EVO | Seagate 3TB Cloud | EVGA 1000 GQ | Win10 Pro | EK Custom water cooling.
November 22, 201312 yr Author I have a suspicion on what might be the cause but yes here is my Main Section of my config...it was like this in the CFG file I was using for the DX10 fixer as well. I can't find any problems with the paths: [Main]HideInfoText=1DisablePreload=1FIBER_FRAME_TIME_FRACTION=0.15User Objects=Airplane, HelicopterSimObjectPaths.0=SimObjects\AirplanesSimObjectPaths.1=SimObjects\RotorcraftSimObjectPaths.2=SimObjects\GroundVehiclesSimObjectPaths.3=SimObjects\BoatsSimObjectPaths.4=SimObjects\AnimalsSimObjectPaths.5=SimObjects\MiscSimObjectPaths.6=SimObjects\UT2 AircraftSimObjectPaths.7=SimObjects\World of AISimObjectPaths.8=SimObjects\UltimateGASimObjectPaths.9=SimObjects\AiSimObjectPaths.10=SimObjects\MAIW
November 22, 201312 yr I don't know how FS9 or earlier AI aircraft will behave vis a vis the Fixer, but their inclusion in FSX will also prevent all FSX AI from working. Have you recently installed any old AI? i7 [email protected] | 32GB RAM | EVGA RTX 3080Ti | Maximus Hero VII | 512GB 860 Pro | 512GB 850 Pro | 256GB 840 Pro | 2TB 860 QVO | 1TB 870 EVO | Seagate 3TB Cloud | EVGA 1000 GQ | Win10 Pro | EK Custom water cooling.
November 22, 201312 yr Author And I found the issue and it was my problem for sure. I had an FS9 traffic file in the scenery/world/scenery folder that I had converted to FSX format however I forgot to delete the FS9 file. It had disabled my traffic likely prior to me ever installing the DX10 fixer. The MAIW models work now in DX9 again and in DX10 so far. Now to experiment with settings and performance. This is my first time with DX10. Brandon
