November 23, 201312 yr Last month I started a post in which I was wondering when and who may be the first developer to create P3D specific programs. Developers have for the most part quit programming for FS9 so I didn't see the idea as being far fetched. My thread lasted less than 24 hours. It was jumped on by someone going on about the now taboo four letter word and vehemently offered an opinion that it would NEVER happen. Well, I have some vindication. FSDT, Umberto, has stated on his forums that in the short term, they will be working on P3D specific programs. James McLees
November 23, 201312 yr Interesting! I posted about devs creating specific P3D addons yesterday in another topic but in that post I was mainly focusing on the prices of those addons. FSDT, being an DSX dev also, will keep his prices as we know them now, I suppose, but new P3D 3PD's may ask for more professional prices. Anyway, it's good to see developers working on P3D only products because obviously P3D has more possibilities and it would be a shame if no one would create something with those possibilities in mond and would only think about FSX compatibility.
November 23, 201312 yr Moderator It remains to be seen if or when P3D only aircraft might be developed. If my understanding is correct, the basic modeling and animations remain the same, with the major difference residing within the Material definitions and options. A careful reading of the P3D v2.x SDK will be required before one may reasonably make that determination. If that is (mostly) all that is required, I can see the possibilities of having P3D specific versions of selected products. Fr. November 23, 201312 yr Author Not a full blown product yet, but P3D specific programming, features, to use the advanced capabilities of the platform on current offerings. As a matter of fact, Flight1 already offers the P3D only iFly 737 that will not work in FSX so I suppose the first has already been offered. The first, "all new" P3D product will arrive in due time. November 23, 201312 yr What I am dying to see implemented are aircraft which behave realistically on the ground. Hope one day that happens. Bob Officially retired
November 23, 201312 yr The P3D only stuff will come when people start taking advantage of the new way external flight models can be plugged into v2. I say it'll be a year or two, simply because development time takes that long. And that'll probably be a simpler GA aircraft with complex airliners taking longer to develop.
