Probably the best week EVER in my simmer life!

Featured Replies

One of the best weeks of my simmer life!

- IL2 Sturmovik BOS open Alpha was released! I am not one of the lucky guys with access to it, but mine will arrive in December! My great friend Tercio ( with a very interesting reviews page about to be made public!!!) already had the chance to try it and confirmed the expected - we have a new winner in the Flight Dynamics Arena, apparently even superior to DCS as confirmed by a few taildragger RW pilots who use both!!!

- Lockheed Martin about to release P3D v2, which was great news for most of my friends with lot's of FSX stuff, and long looking forward for the successor of the FS franchise. Here it is for all of them, and very promissing! At the same time I confess that reading through the already revealed characteristics and the answers to the AVSIM questions, I feel even more secure about having ellected X-Plane 10 as my main simulation platform for the future ;-). Not being negative, just acknowledging the fact that the area that is of more interest to me will continue to be better covered by X-Plane ( well and IL2, but in a very strict hangar ) than on other presently available simulator...

- We have had the chance to see that the best ever reproduction in a sim of a B733 willl become available (somewhere in the future...) and it will be for my/our preferred simulation platform - X-Plane 10!!! I'm talking about the iXEG 737, of course...

- Bought the DX10 Fixer for FSX because I'm still using it to be able to continue to test the excellent weather injector about to be released - ASN, the successor of AS2012, and also because I still start FSX to fly the NGX and the T7 ( both PMDGs of course... ). Running FSX in DX10 mode is a great experience, even higher FPS, smooth as ever, and more beautiful!!!

- Andras Fabian released his masterpiece - Mesh V2 for X-plane 10!!! Whow! Although I will not download before PilotBalu adapts his OSM+Autogen sceneries to this new mesh ( and the photographic sceneries too ), I look forward to be able to get a better coverage of Portugal and Spain. That's where I fly in RL after all....

- Sky MAXX Pro !!!!! Rushing home to test my install!!!! Did the night shift so, bought it, but I am still away from my PC... :-/

- Ben's announcement about 10.30 having been postponed to 2014! This is great to know, because it can only confirm the ammount of work involved, and means that the changes, even if not visually evident, will certainly mean a lot to us all X-Plane 10 users, and also set the bases for V11 !!!!

- My friend Tercio is about to open his new page for general simulation reviews ( land, sea and air, incliding trains, vans, ships, submarines, ... everything you can think for which a simulator exists :-)

- I won the LOTERY!!!! Well, that was while I was assleep, but was nonetheless a great moment while it lasted :-)

BB, rushing home to try Sky MAXX Pro!!! and then a few more sessions of beta for ASN ( ASN will bring FSX's weather to X-Plane standards in terms of effects!!!! ). It's an honor to having been working in the beta teams at HiFiTech since AS5... long ago!

Jcomm, I always like your posts, full of enthusiasm, and makes me feel better about X-Plane :-).

It's definitely been great recently for X-Plane product releases. I've just installed Skymaxx Pro and it's superb. The clouds and sky look real and it performs much better on my system. I can finally actually have real weather. You won't be disappointed when you try it.

What's the best weather inject for X-Plane? I'll test it and I need a list of essentials addons!

Well, LAST MINUTE!!

Sky MAXX Pro is another marker stone in the life of X-Plane :  It's a great day for all X-Plane 10 users, a great day also to the Laminar Research Team. They're doing their work, with dedication, but this product, as well as others released recently, and those that will follow designed with quality as their main gideline, will bring our simulator to a new historical level!!!

I am SIMPLY AMAZED with what was achieved with Sk MAXX Pro. Honestly, I can barely describe my feelings, it's SUPERB!!!!!

Have used ASN to search a few places with significative weather around Europe. My wife at her night shift today told me the big Low is still over the central Mediterranean areas, so went searching for bad weather around Italy, and there it was!

X-Plane with it's UNIQUE weather effects ( winds, shear, gusts, turbulence, various types of precipitation and their consequences... ) and Sky MAXX Pro, together, gave me the BEST EVER weather experience in a flight sim. For the first time also I found a sensation that I consider even closer to real than some extraordinary moments I had using MS FLIGHT when the Alaska Wilderness pack, and it's associated weather themes was released.

What a way of coming to the end of this REMARKABLE / HISTORIC flight simulation week!!!!

( yes, and Ronaldo too... :-) :flag-69: )

This Music is probably what best describes my feelings right now!!!

Thank you Jose,

your enthusiastic posts brought me back to XP after a time of frustration. Today I can share the joy of beeing an XP user with you and our fellow pilots. And you are right, it is a great time right now. And will even be better soon. Thanks again mate.

How is the native ATC? and can we comunicate by voice (voice recognition )

How is the flight planning .?

and is ILS implimented in every major airports?

is VNAV correctly working in some aircraft?

and what about RNAV ...

thank you ...

1) Yes! I never used it, either on fsx or x-plane, anyway now there's finally xSquawkBox 1.2b  64 bit for those who fly VATSIM et al

2) Awful ! and No, although I don't know if there is any plugin for voice recog.

3) Poorly ( very basic ), but there are many external programs, just like for fsx

4) Yes, good World coverage.

5) and 6) Yes, on some payare, but more to come...

Go both, if you can... P3D v2 may well be the future if you have a lot invested in FSX, and looks promissing too, XPX is the future in that it has a huge momentum in terms of changes to the platform, adapting to user requests, bringing in many more features and an increasing number of goog quality add-ons.

I will probably not buy P3D v2 because I just invested in the DX10 Fixer for FSX and use that sim for the PMDGs and my preferred weather injectors... With the fixer I got what I consider to be FSX11 :-)

Hmmm ... the OSM+autogen stuff should work without any problems (or need for changes / adaptation) out of the box. Only - of course - his photoscenery needs to be adapted. thats correct.
