November 24, 201312 yr  Sorry about that. Since DX10 the whitecaps on my water have disappeared. In DX9 I used Rex's 'Ethereal' for yonks. Going to DX10 I thought the water looked a little more 'subdued' but the whitecaps were still there...just. Still happy. Since the last update of DX10Fixer they have gone altogether. I've tried default water, changed the Rex texture, used 'Use this' and still a 'meh' water. It's not a big enough deal to make me revert to DX9 but it would be nice if anyone of you nice people have a solution. EDIT: A thought occurred to me. Does the WaterConstants.XML play any part in DX10? I have a cherished edited copy that I've had since a lad. The World is divided into two groups. November 24, 201312 yr Still have them, build 26 (is there a newer one?), use this from REX. Regards, Nick
November 24, 201312 yr EDIT: A thought occurred to me. Does the WaterConstants.XML play any part in DX10? I have a cherished edited copy that I've had since a lad. No, sorry Ron - that one is for DX9 only. Open up your ShadersHLSL\Terrain folder, and find Water40Consts.fxh. This is the equivalent file to play around with..... after backing it up of course. Notice - it has all four seasons, each with LOW, MID and HIGH sections. You will also need to delete the shader cache folder before you start FSX, too. i7 [email protected] | 32GB RAM | EVGA RTX 3080Ti | Maximus Hero VII | 512GB 860 Pro | 512GB 850 Pro | 256GB 840 Pro | 2TB 860 QVO | 1TB 870 EVO | Seagate 3TB Cloud | EVGA 1000 GQ | Win10 Pro | EK Custom water cooling.
November 24, 201312 yr Author Nick, them's my whitecaps! Did you just do a swap from DX9 to 10? Paul, don't wait up, I'm going in! On second thoughts I'm not going in. I've just taken a look at it. The World is divided into two groups. Those who say "Give me a link" and those that provide the link. WWG1WGA
November 24, 201312 yr Hello Ron, I have recently reinstalled everything from the OS up. The water textures and animation are REX (Optimised for Dx10) and the shot is in Dx10 after applying the fixer. The wind in the shot is 12 knots at sea level and the white caps vary with the strength of the wind. Sorry I can't be of more help. Regards, Nick
November 24, 201312 yr Author OK Nick. I'll carry on carrying on. Something will turn up. The World is divided into two groups. Those who say "Give me a link" and those that provide the link. WWG1WGA
November 24, 201312 yr Hi Ron: Here's a couple - REX "Cumbrance" (I think that was it's name), and the AS "Frequency". You should be able to use REX restore to get back to default, and then re-apply something better: most REX textures will have some king of whitecap. I prefer AS water, though. This is almost back to how I had it when we started fooling aroung with the DX10 patches. i7 [email protected] | 32GB RAM | EVGA RTX 3080Ti | Maximus Hero VII | 512GB 860 Pro | 512GB 850 Pro | 256GB 840 Pro | 2TB 860 QVO | 1TB 870 EVO | Seagate 3TB Cloud | EVGA 1000 GQ | Win10 Pro | EK Custom water cooling.
November 24, 201312 yr Author I've done the 'Back to default' thing, that's not a problem. It's that whichever texture I choose they're all whitecapless. I have deleted the shader cache and there is now the tiniest hint of white. The World is divided into two groups. Those who say "Give me a link" and those that provide the link. WWG1WGA
November 26, 201312 yr Don't forget you need some weather to make the whitecaps work. If it's a calm day, no joy. Best regards, Jim Jim Young | AVSIM Online! - Simming's Premier Resource!
