Voice box on main panel won't stay on

Problem as title. When I click on the voice box on the main FS2Crew panel, it says 'on' briefly before disappearing again.

 

I am using the UK English speech recognition software in Windows 8.1 and cannot switch to US English since there simply is no option for it. I wonder if this is causing the problem?

It's easy with Win 8.

 

You need to download the English - US language pack from Microsoft, which will allow you to set your speech recognizer to English US.
