November 27, 201312 yr Prepar3dDs maps and navaids, navigation, and airports appear to be unchanged from FSX. Checking locally, the airspace boundaries around Heathrow (EGLL) still have the same omissions as FSX, and de Havilland's Hatfield aerodrome (EGTH) which was closed in 1994 is still included. November 27, 201312 yr Yes, that's correct. LM had previously indicated that the default navdata was not being updated at this time.
November 27, 201312 yr Author LM had previously indicated that the default navdata was not being updated at this time. I missed that. Did Lockheed Martin say when (or if) it would be updated? Gerry Howard
November 28, 201312 yr I missed that. Did Lockheed Martin say when (or if) it would be updated? I believe their intention is to rely on third party developers providing updated data in their scenery add-ons.
November 28, 201312 yr Author I believe their intention is to rely on third party developers providing updated data in their scenery add-ons. Yes, that now appears to be Lockheed Martin's strategy in many areas. I doubt if a 3rd party developer will undertake that task worldwide though. I created a .bgl simply to correct the airspace boundaries around Heathrow and that was time consuming. Gerry Howard
November 28, 201312 yr Moderator Well then Gerry, you only have ~24,000 more to do! :Just Kidding: Seriously though, ideally L-M would build a unified database and engine to allow users to use real world data sources to update the entire sim in one shot, and flush the legacy system of embedding this data into hundreds of compiled .bgl files, which was quite frankly nothing short of insanity to begin with! November 28, 201312 yr Author And while it's doing it could also ensure that Class A airspace boundaries are implemented. Microsoft failed to realise US practice isn't universal. Gerry Howard
