Another issue

Featured Replies

Ok so first off I had the 713 error got some help with that and that is fixed. The issue I am having now is I can't hear RC in the sim. The only time I think I hear a RC voice is for the ATIS nothing else. Is there some setting or something I need to change to hear the RC voices in the sim??

Also do I use the default ATC menu to communicate with RC4 or is there a separate window that I need to open for communication?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hi,

In the sim open up the sound folder and turn down the sound slider for voice or you will not hear RC except for the ATIS.(You can just untick the voice option )I have assumed that you are using FSX.

RC should appear in a small window on the LHS of your screen. The default ATC window should not be used.

Yea I went and unchecked the voice option. I see the window but how do you interact with the window? Do I manually change the frequencies or something that are in the little box or do I hit the corresponding number and that will change my radios or something?

Even though the box is open I have not been able to interact with it at all so no getting any type of ATC instructions or anything.

I just tried it again. I can get the ATIS information but when I switched the radio to get clearance nothing happens once that radio frequency is active.

Hi,

You interact through the Keyboard using your keys. You must make sure that the keys do not interfere with any other addons.!

You must set up RC through the interface, general button and next to it is a button marked keyboard and you can adjust your keyboard strokes here.

Do make sure that you at least read the manuals as these will provide most of your answers.

Good Luck

Actually I found the answer. I started RC once I was in the cockpit and everything worked so I guess that was the trick.

Yes, you must have an aircraft loaded avionics on. In addition if you drag the RC/fsuipc window around, be sure click somewhere on the panel and not on the RC/fsuipc window for keystrokes to be passed to RC.

If you are using an FMC or other  device that allows capturing from the pc keyboard to input to its virtual keypad, turn off that keyboard capture. Some PMDG models have that feature.

I saw somebody post about adding a voice sound set from AVSIM. I think it was called meatwater voices or something. How easy is it to install those? Does it replace all the voices that are already there or something or just add new ones?

I read that you have to install a ton of different files in order to use it so I am curious if this is something simple or not.

Be sure you back up the folders indicated unless something goes wrong. I do not think all voices are replaced. If you do not back-up then you will need to reinstall RC if something goes wrong. Be sure you have the CD or downloaded zip file and your key as received from jdtllc.com.

jdtllc.com is not responsible for anything lost during this library install.

In contrast to one of the replies, RC as delivered does have some European voices (less in prerecorded chatter) and where a specific one is not available a nearest one is substituted. If you go to the RC voices tab, as you click on each one you will see a country flag. Clicking on the voice will sample it to your sound system.

Note there is a version 2 in ten files to download so I suspect Nick added some non-US voices. Search for "meatwater" in the AVSIM library and be sure to follow his installation instructions.
