December 18, 201312 yr Hi guys; Finally decided to upgrade from my OEM HP Q6600 store bought Desktop circa 2006,to something a bit bigger. Hope I haven't gotten my head into something too big. Here's my thoughts and if anyone can make recommendations I will be grateful. First I wanted a more powerful CPU,but my budget will only allow an I3-4330;LGA 1150. This I got an ASUS B85-Plus MB for. I recently upped my HP to a 500w PSU and added a MSI 460. It also has a HDD and optical drive. I was intending to swap the Vid card;PSU ;Optical drive and HDD and put them all in a new case(not yet purchased) Can I do this??? I also need to upgrade the RAM,and the ASUS manual specifies what I need. Here's where they threw me a curveball......the manual states the MB must have either Win 7 or 8 only....my current HDD has Vista. I don't know whether to go with 7 or 8,and 32bit or 64 bit.....once again budget constraints. I'm dying to start, but want to do it right......any help will be great...Thanks Skip D
December 18, 201312 yr IMHO, Win 7 64-bit is the best OS right now for FSX. December 18, 201312 yr I would agree with that. W8 still has a few teething problems. W7 64 is the best bet.
