December 28, 200421 yr Hi, Just when you thought you had seen them all.... I haven't had any problems in a long time (sound of knuckle knocking on wood) despite dozens of addon sceneries and aircraft and several dozen gigs of AI. Now here is a new one. At a few select airports as long as the aircraft is on the ground, the sim lurches in speed every few seconds. Yes, that's right. Instead of actual stutters that slow you down, this thing speeds up every few seconds with clockwork precision. You are taxiing smoothly, then suddenly you are around that next corner much farther than you anticipated. three seconds later again. This happens irrespective of the aircraft and seems to be a particular problem at Shez's KPSP. As soon as the wheels are off the ground, no problem. Only during taxi. Any clues? :-hmmm Misha
December 28, 200421 yr I've seen things similar to this reported. Since it involves being on the ground, I'd look for issues related to FFB controllers as a start.-John
December 28, 200421 yr Moderator In the FFB section disable ground bumps and see if that helps.VicVisit the Virtual Pilot's Centerwww.flightadventures.comhttp://www.hifisim.com/images/as2004proudsupporter.jpg RIG#1 - I9 14900K MSI Pro z790 RTX 5070Ti 40" 4K Monitor 3840x2160
December 29, 200421 yr Misha, this is most likely due to huge variations in frame rate from the GPU's point of view. The cure is to lower your frame rate lock. What are you set at now? The other cure is to lower your VIDEO processing overhead by lowering resolution, lowering AA/AF, etc. This way there is not too extreme a difference between the lowest fps and highest fps. December 29, 200421 yr Author HiIf the lurch is with only a few aircraft open there panel.cfg in notepad and look for pixel_size=1024,1024 and change all of them to 512,512(Only change the pixel_size not the size_mm).The gauges will look a little fuzzier but still be readableIf it happens on all aircraft there is a global entry VIRTUAL_COCKPIT_TEXTURES_SCALE=2.0 in fs9.cfg that changes all panels to a higher rez this will cause all aircraft to show these simptoms Hope this helpsWozza
December 29, 200421 yr That makes no sense though, since it only occurs on the ground and only at certain airports that aren't even complex. E.g. I have no such issues in NY with Aerosoft's Manhattan scenery, Simflyers KEWR and KJFK and Shez's KLGA and full traffic! I have had framerate locks anywhwere between 10 and 20 and have not observed a difference.
December 29, 200421 yr FFB= force feedback? I don't even have a joystock with this feature. Would that still make a diffrence? And why only certain airports?
December 29, 200421 yr Author DOH!! Sorry mis read the messageMaybe its a texture problem ??? I had probs with High rez airport textures (Airport Environment Upgrade) with some addon airports,I switched to the lower rez ver and prob went away. Also found that when I went to 1gig ram this fixed a lot of the lag due to harddrive activityWozza
