December 29, 201312 yr Anyone understand how Global Texture Detail settings of 1024x1024 versus 4096v4096 would impact the P3D V2 rendering behavior? Never been sure what this variable does... Thanks! December 29, 201312 yr It's for objects that use mip maps Example - If a Plane or scenery texture has MipMaps that start at 4096 and progress down the scale (2048, 1024 etc) and you set Global Texture Resolution of "1024", your plane will only display the 1024x1024 textures and not up to 4096.. Thanks for that. And if you will... I think I read that scenery textures in V2 start at 1024x1024, is that your understanding? If you set GTR to 4096 does this perhaps reserve VRAM address space that becomes effectively unused when most textures are 1024x1024? Do you know if there is a performance penalty, specifically texture load rate performance, incurred if you have GTR set at 4096, for example to cover airplane textures that might go that high? I'm seeing the texture load rate I had in FSX was pretty similar to this if not better. I have GTR at 4096 in FSX too. When I say 'texture load rate' I am referring to how quickly textures load to their highest resolution. Lots of questions so thanks in advance for sharing your insights ;o) Noel System: 9900X3D Noctua NH-D15 G2, MSI Pro 650-P WiFi, G.SKILL 64GB (2 x 32GB) 288-Pin PC RAM DDR5 6000, WD NVMe 2Tb x 1, Sabrent NVMe 2Tb x 1, RTX 4090 FE, Corsair RM1000W PSU, Win11 Home, LG Ultra Curved Gsync Ultimate 3440x1440, Phanteks Enthoo Pro Case, TCA Boeing Edition Yoke & TQ, Cessna Trim Wheel, RTSS Framerate Limiter w/ Front Edge Sync. December 30, 201312 yr Another question from me. I have looked in the scenery and aircraft folders of the default P3Dv2 installation, and i can`t really find any native 4096 textures anyway, so is this setting only applicable to add-on scenery/aircraft or am i looking in the wrong place ?
