December 30, 201312 yr Does FTX Global Vector require FTX global? I went to go purchase Vector and found a notice on the sales website that global was required, but was under the impression that it was not required.. Hoping someone can shed a light. Thank you. -Damien Damien Furtman Hovering Hellion

December 30, 201312 yr Damien, Yes it does. According to the manual, Vector uses some textures from Global. Here is a quote from the Vector Manual: Do I Need FTX Global BASE? Quick answer: Yes! FTX Global VECTOR is specifically designed for FTX Global BASE, and calls many textures only found in that product. Attempting to use Vector with default textures or other third party texture products is not supported and will lead to unpredictable results. Safe Flyin' Rod Rod Beck
December 30, 201312 yr Interesting. Most certainly Vector and Global are designed to work together. Vector will work without Global though. It will call textures for things like beaches, coastlines, lake shore lines, rivers & creeks, hydro lines and train lines etc. If you have GEX or UTX which have their own textures, then it should just call upon those textures whatever they are and use them. They may or may not be good looking or blend nicely, I can't say. If you have default textures only then it will call those textures. So the issue is whether or not those other textures will look good or appropriate instead of Orbx textures for those vector elements. I would be very interested in someone giving that a test. Heck and if you know what texture calls Vector is making and you have Orbx regions, you could likely just replace those called upon world textures with those from a region or two. Just thinking, it would be fun to mess around with it and see what happens. Bryan Wallis aka "fltsimguy" Maple Bay, British Columbia Near CAM3
December 30, 201312 yr what exactly is this Landclass ? never used one. Ryzen 5 1600x - 16GB DDR4 - RTX 3050 8GB - MSI Gaming Plus
December 30, 201312 yr what exactly is this Landclass ? never used one. ?? we are talking about vector scenery elements not landclass. landclass is another layer of identifier that describes which textures to display over a scenery area. IE where to put urban areas, forests, swamps, rocks, snow and ice, golf courses. There are however textures associated with vector scenery (anything with lines) but those textures are limited to only those lined areas like creeks, rivers, shorelines, road etc. Bryan Wallis aka "fltsimguy" Maple Bay, British Columbia Near CAM3

So it should be having the new sea link for bombay. if you could check it. Ryzen 5 1600x - 16GB DDR4 - RTX 3050 8GB - MSI Gaming Plus
December 30, 201312 yr Here is a schematic of the different elements/components of FSX, copied from Orbx forums. It shows you how they relate in general. Landclass defines which textures covers the world and where there are vector scenery elements there can be separate textures related to just those areas: shorelines, lake shores, rivers, creeks, hydro lines, roads or all sorts, railway lines, If you head over to Flight1's website and look up UTX products and GEX you can read about what they do. UTX is largely but not solely vector scenery. GEX is ground textures controlled by landclass definitions of FSX. Or go to UTX website and read about their product directly.
