AA and Nvidia Inspector

Featured Replies

Is it still recommended that Nvidia Inspector be used in conjunction with DX10 Scenery Fixer to tweak graphics settings?

Correct me if I'm wrong, that when using DX10 Scenery Fixer with Nvidia Inspector, that the AA in the General shaders section of DX10 Fixer match that defined in Nvidia Inspector? Also, AA within FSX remains unchecked?

the confusing thing is that there are two sorts of aa.

Multi sampling and super sampling (with its sgaa variant).

The former is controlled from dx10sf and dx10sf will set aa on for the dx10 device in fsx.cfg which is required.

The settings that yorgos has set to application controlled refer to MSAA and play no part, however its best to set them as yorgos has.

SSAA/SGAA is controlled from NVI, again the settings of yorgos are correct although it is recommended to set a lod bias of -1.0 with a sgaa level of 4x

Thank you Yorgos for sharing your settings, and to you Steve, thanks go out for your explanation. I find all this AA stuff and how all the different applications work together to provide or hinder the best possible result. I've Googled a lot about anti-ailiasing and some of the definitions used in these applications, but found myself overwhelmed LOL.

I am using a GeForce 660ti (2MB) in surround mode over 3 23" monitors, resulting in a recommended resolution of 5760x1080 resolution. An Intel P7-2600 running 3.4Mhz on an Asus P8Z77-V motherboard with 8MB of RAM. Running FSX with Acceleration, REX Overdrive and AS2012 graphics on a Windows 7 64 Bit system. Of course, DX10 tweaked with Steve's DX10 Fixer, v1.2.29.

Considering the following screenies, would anyone like to offer some insight on how, if at all, I can improve my experience?

Inspector:

Thank you for considering my request, and the best of the New Year ahead to all.

Pleasure is all mine, I do whatever I can to help out fellow simmers just like I got helped out on here....

After reviewing your settings I would look at over clocking your CPU if you haven't already....I c you have a 2600k at 3.4 ghz......I recommend you get up to 4.4 - 4.6  (if you have a good after market motherboard).....This will give you a biggest difference possible at the moment.....You're about as good as you can be at the moment with your CFG and your settings.

Good luck. If you get any more frames please report back and let us know....

Happy new years! its in 2 hrs    :O

16 x csaa is very high I would reduce to yorgos setting. I have the same video card running one monitor and i use 8xcsaa as well. I doubt you could tell the difference.

I would change headlights bloom to always off, to avoid sparkles at airports with parked cars.

Change negative lod. Bias from clamp to allow.

Change lod bias ( dx) to -1.0. Note the minus

I don't like fxaa as it softens things, but that's a personal choice.

Steve, thanks so much for your advice. I've applied it and am enjoying the result!

I appreciate the effort put into the development of the DX10 Fixer!!
