Guys, I wanted to mention something else too-Did any of you download that interview with the MS Flight Sim team? I admit I didn't listen to alot of what they were saying, as I was keying on any words that might indicate what the future holds- nothing was mentioned unfortunately, and I was trying to see what the guys were doing- what was on their computers, etc.I certainly didn't see any pink slips, empty offices, packed boxes, crying, holes punched in the wall or anything else. The office looked VERY alive, and they didn't interview too many programmers- not that programmers make great interviews- but maybe they were too busy? Maybe they didn't want us to see their monitors? That interview didn't give me the slightest reason to believe they were a forgotten office, or even on the decline. Of course I had tried my contacts to see if they had any information, but people there aren't really willing to risk their hides for our sake- especially if they could jeopardize the franchise. One of them offered to get me a tour of the Visual Studio development team instead (I like VS, but YAWN :) ) I do know FS is one of the most loved products on the MS campus, and there would have to be a really, really good reason to kill it. I don't think you should let the Train Sim 2 cancellation cause any doubts- although they shared a name, Train Sim had fractional sales of FS.

Yep, people have been predicting for a decade, that each version was the last, due to problems, etc... Even bought Train Sim, as I always liked Model Railroads, but, then, I'd really had a very elaborate HO setup, and wound up giving it away. Played with TS, a few days, went back to the FS, and months later realized it was taking up space I could fill with addon aircraft. Ripped it out, and never went back. Bob

I am not sure how come people start thinking "What if there is no Fs2006 or 8 or 10 and so on". I think FS is going to be around for a long long time and will continue with even more realism. I know fs has had a time frame of every 2 years of making a new sim, but let's look at fs4 to fs5 shall we? 1990 to 1994 or 5. That's 4 years there I believe. Correct me if I am wrong on the years but at least I thought that fs5 came out in 1994 or 1995. So maybe that's whats going to happen. That was a great leap forward between those two sims, and between fs2004 and a future fs200*. Just something to think about.

I wish they start releasing every 4 years. Those 4 years is what I need to feel I have to move forward. Too many unexplored things. And as long as developers keep on releasing free and payware, 4 years is the perfect time frame. Besides, that'll give the chance to everyone to have an updated cumputer and really enjoy FS.leo

Just keep doing what i am doing now. Fly it and keep adding more add-ons to make it better and better. Who needs FS10, we are creating FS10 right now to make it into what we want. FS2004 forever!I have way to much invested into FS2004 and would hate to have to start all over again with a new version.

Let's see. I'm still using Windows 2000 and Office 2000. Those were released around the same time as FS2000 and have served me well. I see no reason to upgrade them to the latest and more flashy versions...I don't replace my furniture every 6 months to stay with fashion (as you're supposed to do). Some of my pans and my stove/furnace I inherited from my grandmother who had them for some 20-30 years before she died now almost years ago.Yes, I think I'll survive if there's no new version of MSFS ;)

Maybe MS is going to convert MSFS over to X-box. Now that would be a good rumor to start. That is where the focus for gaming is going now a days. If you notice in the software stores, the PC gaming shelves have shrunk and the console game area have grown huge. You may have to trash your computer and buy an X-box for FS10

that was rumoured for FS2004 as well, that it would be XBox only. Later it was then rumoured it would be XBox and PC when developers started announcing addons to be released for it.

>that was rumoured for FS2004 as well, that it would be XBox>only. Later it was then rumoured it would be XBox and PC when>developers started announcing addons to be released for it.>FS 2004 on XBOX is really no other word for it the stupidest rumour there has ever been lol Who would you think would buy it seeing the weak CPU they have? These consoles are meant for gaming thus they put most effort on the video card rather then CPU. FS 2004 with all it

What if FS10 has a much better implementation of the VCs that you imply in your tag line are an important feature to you now? ;)Gary

"FS 2004 on XBOX is really no other word for it the stupidest rumour there has ever been"Who knows, for FS2006 they could try to make it for the younger crowd. They could dumb it down and make it the motor madness of the skies!FS2006 - the most realsitic arcade flying sim for X-box! I admit, the thought of that makes me hurt. I think FS2006 would have to be pretty fantabulous of not only a great VC, but a true feel of flight in the air, with realistic turbulance, flight modeling and the whole bit before I would give up my investment in FS2004, or make sure that just about everything I have works in FS2006 with some really great improvements.

Just a thought on the X-BOX rumor- A few years ago it may not have been a bad idea- If it was a launch title or something. Now the XBOX would kind of choke on it.Any of you guys see Steel Battalion for the X-BOX? I bought it- $200. Probably the single coolest game I've ever played. It came with a HUGE controller- Pedals, two joysticks, throttle lever. And it blinks and lights up. Imagine what that controller would cost a PC manufacturer to produce? I mean, the CH Throttle Quadrant is just as much with 1/10 the functionality. The good thing about platforms is they sell so many that hardware is priced reasonably. If a "FS Pro" version came out on the X-BOX 2, that included an instrument panel, flight yoke, throttle, and pedals, it would be cheap and probably really well done. Imagine putting in the DVD and it working perfectly out of the box, with no need for tweaking or other junk that we all go through. It would probably make for a great experience, even if it was slightly dumbed down in terms of add-ons, etc. But add-ons are possible on the X-BOX, so who knows...

There is a lot to be said for being able to design a game for one hardware platform and being able to maximize it's configuration in the program. The future consoles will probably be more powerful then our current Pentium 4 computers and able to do much more. We will see.

FS 2004 would choke as much for a few years ago as it would now... Xbox lacks to processing power it
