January 4, 200521 yr If you are not already a seasoned MyTraffic or Ultimate Traffic user, here is a way to get started...Download the FS Live Traffic demo from:http://www.airnavsystems.com/ANFS/index.htmThis will disable your FS9 default traffic and replace it with a set of real world airlines, flying Boeing, Airbus, and Embraer aircraft.(Caution: North America only!)Secondly, you can add back your GA traffic, by downloading the split traffic file from the Avsim library:Search for: default_ai_split.zipSince FS9 supports multiple traffic files, you now have:1. FS9 default traffic file (disabled)2. FSLive commercial traffic file for North America (active)3. FS9 GA traffic file (active) To run: 1. Run the FSLive program to refresh the traffic flow2. Start up FS9 and go to your favorite (North American) airport3. Crank up your Traffic settings (Options/Settings/Traffic) to about 75% and you should be surrounded by real looking commercial and GA aircraft..This experience should allow you to evaluate if you want to invest further time, and money in pursuing the payware route. And it is all reversible if you want to go back to the original traffic setup! January 5, 200521 yr Do you also have to download the planes separately to see AI? Or the plane models come with the download in fsnav? I7-10700F RTX 3070 32 Gig Ram
January 5, 200521 yr Author The demo comes as a single, one-step download, including AI aircraft. I'm not positioning this software as being "better" than other competing products, including the freeware Project AI...This is simply a no-hassle way to experience the effect and decide whether to pursue it further.I have not yet spent a penny..Picture attached shows me with traffic at my six at CYYZ.. January 16, 200521 yr Hello all, I downloaded the file and registered the famous FS Live Traffic Program, until now I have been using Ultimate Traffic, but Fs Live Traffic seems to have a little bit advantage in the following points:1) The number of traffic on my local Palm Springs Airport ( the nice free add-on scenery installed) has increased about a 150 %, Specially after 5:00 pm are shown a lot more flights. It is a relativly busy airport now, with Ultimate it was kind of deserted, even at 100% and all Airplane assigned to their corresponding Airlines 2) bigger Airports like LAX or KPHX have a endless amount of traffic with 200 planes and more3) the Afcads coming with the program fit very well on the airports, All airlines park on the gates, they are supossed to,the wild mixture displayed by Ultimate traffic has com to an end, at KLAS, America West and Southwest have their separated gates, also at Klax, every Airline parks where it should park. I know, you can assign parking codes manually, but it's a lot of work for 1600 airports. 4) The AI traffic has gotten much smoother know, due to the elaborated Afcads, on nearly all Big Airpost, two to four runways are used at the same time, which reduces the traffic congestion a lot, even at L.A. I have hardly go arrounds, you don't get stuck waiting for take of, 15-20 minutes from gate to takeoff is a realitic average value. 5) The flight dynamics of the delivered planes are very nice (apparently PAI Planes) they look really realistic in the takeoff and landing behavior.6) At least I don't have any problems with flights at level 40000 and above, e. g. 73000 93000) 7) the software includes am AI traffic map which displays all flights and all details of the current trafic on a map including the nect waypoint the ai aircraft moving to, planes on the ground are blue others red. 8) the impact on the framerate is really low, much better than with Ultimate traffic and the AIA and FS painter planes, even in Phoenix or KLAX never under 18 FPS landing Negative:1) like earlier mentioned, FS live traffic takes a snapshot of the current traffic. These flight are stored in history files, of you run the programm lets say 2 hours later, the new flights just get add to the old ones, this has the advantages, that you can go back in time, on the other hand in increases the size of the traffic file quickly. You solve this by cleaning the history with a little program that comes together with the packages.2) If you verify the flights displayed in FS 2004 with a realtime flight tracker, about 70 percent of the infomation is more or less accurate. Don't expect wonders in detail, very often a plane that is being displayed as a take off in FS 2004 at local time of the snapshot, is in reality, if you check with flytecomm.com or or flightview already 20 to 25 minutes away from the airport, I guess this is more a problem of how FS handles AI traffic than a problem of accuracy of the airnavsystems server. 3) In Europe ony flights ending or beginning or crossing the north american airspace are displayed. I solved this problems partly by compliling a UT file with out the US and Canadian Airlines. Still a lot of European airlines are displaying doubled flights as a consequence. Mexico is apparently included, lots of national traffic there. 4) The Airplanes coming with the package look worse than the ones from aia and fs Painter I had assigned in UT, specially the smaller GA jets looks really awful. until now I didn't find an aircraft assigning tool. 5) no support forum established until now As a final statement, I don't regret the purchase, but I'm not sure if I would subscribe again half year later, I'm fan of "real time" and although cancelled and delayed flights are apparently reflected, the schedules offered by Ultimate produce many time more similarity with the realtime flight trackers than FS LIve Traffic.... this is really strange, but maybe inprovable...just my two cent's
January 16, 200521 yr yea thanks Mario that was a good write up,but the delay you are experiencing from real time flights is more a national aviation security thing as they are not allowed to show exact time of flights, i think its a 10 minute delay.Just curious is there Australian traffic as well? I7-10700F RTX 3070 32 Gig Ram
January 16, 200521 yr mmm if they had something like that covering Oceania then i would be interested. Brent Lewis
January 16, 200521 yr Yes, Australian Traffic inbound and outbound from the US Shows up, national flights naturally not, also in and out of Hawai, including interhawaian traffic. As for the delays, I could understand 5 - 10 minutes difference, but many times, the airplane has already landed 45 minutes ago, which I think is not caused by the delay in data flux, as you mentioned I think it's ten minutes, and that should be correctable by adjusting the time ten minutes before the time you made the connection. I'm think, for some reason many flights are starting out from the airports, that should be already displayed in the air, as for example many flights from Phoenix to LA or San Diego start from the ground, that in realtime Flight trackers are about to land on the destination airport ( sure, it's a short hop, but still)..still nobody knows about and aircraft assigment tools for this Program?
