January 5, 200521 yr Depends entirely on what I'm in the mood for flying. If I do any long haul flights, I tend to choose routes that would be done overnight. I get into the cruise late in the evening, and then go to bed. Wake up next morning, and if I've timed it right I am approx 300 miles from destination. But recently I have really only been doing short haul around Europe. Most recently all my flights have been in the FSD Avanti, buzzing about Europe, so most flights are only a couple of hours.Real time all the way!
January 5, 200521 yr Great response guys. I too will be flying real time as I like to keep things real but to a certain extend. Can't think of sitting 6-12 hours on long haul flights. Love the response guys. Thanks for responding to my question.
January 5, 200521 yr Charles - you should try what I do sometimes for a laugh:Fly B777s, A340s & 747-400s on 20-minute commuter flights - into grass strips http://instagiber.net/smiliesdotcom/contri...y/corkysm20.gifCabin crew ready for tactical landing!
January 5, 200521 yr Guess if I had no wife, no children, enough money to need no work and plenty of time, I'd fly from A to B too.So, I seldom do flights with a "real" origin and a "real" destination.Instead, I practice takeoffs and landings most of the time, i.e. either traffic patterns, slew and pause/unpause, or short hops. And, I do many "just for fun" flights (e.g. "lake hopping" with the B-317 in th Alps or "search-the-strip" flights somewhere in Alaska, or "just around that mountain" with a DHC-2 for instance, where the mountain is so high and near that the plane almost crashes when overflying the last mountain saddle with 30deg pitch darn close to stall speed). But these flights, I do in real time.I have the biggest difficulties to decide which plane to take. And, I have so many things to do not directly related to actual flying like updating drivers, planes, textures, programs, scenery, refining panels and FDEs (each start of FS takes minutes before I can do something with it) and...Andreas Andreas, LOWW - Nihil sumus et fuimus mortales. January 5, 200521 yr me too when in long haul mood its always MKJP - EGLL or vise versa (8+ hours) - take off late, settle into cruise and off to bed - mcdu has'nt failed me yet :). For short/medium I just go do other stuff and check back from time to time (i do like to be a passenger and just watch the sky/world go by under the wing for a while too)Nope - no time compression for me, just no piont otherwise.regards,Mark Regards, Mark
January 5, 200521 yr Well, I do real time flying as hobby also as my flight traning. Install the AFCAD & Project AI. Load up the Active Sky 2004 togetherwith PMDG737-900, then pull the flight yoke make the plane fly fromPenang to Singapore (About 1hr15mins). The part make me enjoy for real time flying is, instruct by ATC during the approach at Singapore Changi airport with manually fly the B737-900 for landing at Runway 02L with AS2004 dynamic weather, sometime you may face the cross wind landing. Make sure the realtime is bring a meaning full & satisfaction to you.B/Regards...Alex Ooi
January 7, 200521 yr Thats why it is great to be retired! Since 1992, Ive had all the time that I wanted to fly. Even bought a Laptop, installed FS9, and fly while my wife drives the RV through the desert. Then I take it through heavy traffic areas. In campgrounds at night, when everyone is sleeping, Im flying. Even put earphones and Mike on, so it can be turned up as loud as I desire, without bothering others.... We've traveled thousands of miles in the RV, while I flew a 172 the same route. Bob
