The Road Not taken

Featured Replies

I've been setting up a new hard drive that's going to stay with minimal software, designed just for Flight Simming. X-Plane X has been on there a few days, followed by Aerofly and now Flight, smoother than ever.

I was just taking a quick look around, enjoying the view and thinking about all the furor on the forums about P3Dv2, both the good and the bad, and as I flew through Alaska it just occurred to me yet again how close Flight already was in so many ways to what people are looking for. It made me hope against hope yet again that this great Simulator engine is not allowed to fade into history.

That was my thoughts before P3D v 2 was released. I  gave up trying to fly that thing as it is so filled with bugs..taking up space on a brand new SSD that I bought for it.

Flight already was in so many ways to what people are looking for.

Hey, I agree completely. It is exactly what I had been looking for. "It could have been a contender" I did do a couple clandestine missions today, felt really good. I like to fly above the law on those. The Cub or the Whale has no trouble getting the 12,000 feet. But in the 60 miles to the destination I could not get above 9,500 with the Maule. Sure wish you could use the RV-6 for those missions.

Same here, it was exactly what I was looking for. I bet if Flight had been released one day one with all it's current content, history would be different.

Flying has always been about freedom and expansive views and Flight captures the joy of flying with gorgeous scenery.

Thanks for starting this topic, especially as it reminds us of the achievement that Microsoft has brought for us but more importantly, how we should preserve it.  It took three years to develop the Simulator, but Microsoft discontinued it soon after release. What was the point??

For me, this is the best civil Flight Simulator, it beats X-Plane to be honest. I never expected a Simulator as brilliant as this good to take up only 2 GB. It also offers what many Flight Sim's don't offer such as Missions, Challenges and Aerocaches.

The message really here is to keep the development going. Stone has done quite a lot for Flight and MS Flight players and some more support may boost the limits of Flight.

I figured after Stones latest releases you would be set, and i'm glad your finally up and running. Don't worry about arguing anymore with MS, its too tiny an amount of money to worry about.

Yea, but when you think about it, its not about the money, its just they threw what could have been the next step in Flight Simulation in the trash.

Who could Stand that? Especially, if you love civil Flight Simulators this much.
