I've just uploaded the file to the library. I guess it will be online soon. Just search for "Simple Sun Mod"! And thank you for testing it. The final version has some minor tweaks. Although nothing changed in appearence, you guys may want to download the final version anyway.

Hi Gabriel, i installed your Sun Flare mod, and it was working perfectly (see Vid) however after installing a couple of other items (airports etc0 it has stopped working. I have reinstalled it twice now and still no-joy. I am running in DX10 (using Steve Parsons DX10 Fixer) and I use REX4, however I have not updated either DX10 Fixer or REX4 (thus overwriting the files). Any help would be greatly appreciated as I love this mod.

Strange! This mod should not be affected by airports. Can you still see the sun and the lens flare effect in any camera other than the virtual cockpit one? Or can you still see the sun? 

I just flew into Ibiza with the sun low down, flying straight into it, but no flare at all. So no, I'm mystified. Same for outside cams, no lens flare. It must be something I've done. But for the life of me I can't think what!

Ok, just to be sure: do you still have the "Lens Flare" option checked in your FSX display settings? 

Yes, it was the first thing I checked, I also re-installed the textures after using REX4 and setting lights etc with DX10Fixer.

If you are using EZDOK, make sure you read the readme.txt file Gabriel provided with this patch about EZDOK camera entries.

Based on what I've learned, in order to see lens flare, you only need to:

1. Have flare textures in your "Texture" folder; 

2. Have a suneffect.cfg that calls exactly for these textures;

3. Have "Lens Flare" option checked in FSX, which you have; 

4. Have "ShowLensFlare=TRUE" in each camera described in "cameras.cfg" that should show the effect.

 

So I would say: open your suneffect.cfg just to check if it is the one that came with the mod; open your cameras.cfg (both of them -- the one in FSX root folder and the one in fsx.cfg folder) and see if there's anything wrong with "ShowLensFlare" entries. There should be only one "ShowLensFlare=TRUE" for each camera, as I have learned in this thread. I assume the textures are installed correctly, or the sun wouldn't appear.

Okay, I sorted it, my mistake ( I knew it was something I had done) when I re-checked the cameras.cfg file in the appdata\ms\fsx folder, I had put the new line into the wrong cam. Works perfectly again. Thank you for the help Gabriel. By the way I have been trying to find the new files in the Avsim library, no luck so far, do you have a link handy. Thanks in advance.
