FSX isn't Remembering My Settings

Featured Replies

Besides my other problem in another thread, I've discovered this one.

I turn the UI sounds off, change scenery settings, display options, framerates locked to 33 etc.

But every time I start up FSX it's all back to the default. Framerates are back to 20 and so on.

I'm finding this one difficult to figure out

Are you shutting down the sim properrly by going to endflight etc.?  When my FSX crashes the new settings are not saved.

This is after I've re-started the computer. But the other problem I was referring to is this: http://forum.avsim.net/topic/433128-unable-to-press-any-keys-without-a-ctd/%C2'>

FSX crashes no matter what. I don't remember it not saving the settings after crashing in previous installations though.

I think my fsx.cfg is missing some lines. Can somebody verify please.

Run as admin and see if that helps! I had the same problem before doing that.

Hi, Jesse,

Regarding your crashes, two things: 1) lots of people say FSX runs better not installed in a programs folder -- it has too many "protections" that mess up FSX.  Alternatively, try "Run as administrator." 2) Do you have FSINN installed?

Regarding getting your settings back when you restart FSX, when you have FSX set up the way you want you can go to settings and save them into an fs.cfg file with the name of your choice. (It is saved in the FSX documents folder along with saved flights, not the settings folder). When you restart you can reload that file from FSX settings.  Cumbersome, but it should work.  However when you get FSX to stop crashing I think this problem will go away as well.

Hope this helps!

Thanks for the tip Mike! It's easy enough to load the settings, doesn't bother me too much ;)

I am running FSX as admin permanently. I've also got the new uiautomationcore.dll.

But I can't click any menus at all without crashing instantly in the sim. I know FSX crashes quite frequently usually, but this is really  abnormal.

Hi, Jesse,

In my own setup, in which FSX is not installed in a programs folder, I need to NOT run as administrator, so that might be worth trying as well.

Regarding uiautomationcore.dll take a look at the following thread, started by Jim Young/Firehawk44
