Where do you get US OrthoImagery GeoTiffs?

Featured Replies

I see the USGS no longer offers GEOTIFFs and I am looking for alternatives.

I don't think there are any unless you choose to purchase imagery from numerous data sources.

While I haven't tried it, there is a way to convert jpeg2000 files to geoTIFF.

I've used FWTools (gdal_merge or gdalwarp) to merge .jp2s into large geotifs for MSFS use, it can also convert a .jp2 directly (gdal_translate). Here's a thread at FSDeveloper:

I have problems with my internet connection accessing the USGS site, is that what they've done now (made everything available as tiled .jp2s)? ...or can you even get anything at all there anymore? I personally love the .jp2s because the file sizes are so much smaller, I get 5 Gb/month from Verizon wireless and anything over that costs me $10/Gb so the .jp2s are a godsend, lol.

From what I can tell, they've switched over to .jp2's.  I downloaded some tiles from 6-8 different airports and they were all .jp2's.
