February 3, 201412 yr No, not really. Well it's more like it landed on my hardrive. I'm not overwhelmed. I remember when few months ago I was proud to master default 737. Than I came here and heard buy NGX which I did and having great pleasure flying this beauty. I'm a Boeing freak now actually. Still when I got fs2crew bundle pack from my GF it came with x extended too. So it's time to use it. From what I saw until now is that manual/tutorial is much lower quality and complexity than PMDG but still, when I spawned into that beautiful VC of Airbus I felt some nice thrill. The views when looking outside are great and I suppose I will have some nice time with it. Now I'll get to Airbus way of thinking and have two beautiful short/mid range cruisers to fly. Just out of curiosity - is it worth it to learn this aircraft with built in FO or should I turn it off and skip right to fs2crew? Tomasz Zawadzki
February 3, 201412 yr Good assessment: The Airbus has medium systems (only ...), great visuals and can become pretty immersive. Since you have the FS2Crew edition for the Airbus already - use it. It's the most realistic way to fly that Airbus. In order to learn the Airbus a bit better you could use the inbuilt checklists, too, but set the F/O to "passive" (= reading the C/Ls only): That way the procedures won't be run automatically, but step by step at your discretion, and you can stay ahead of your plane. February 3, 201412 yr It's a very good product, but not an in depth sim like the NGX. There are some tutorial videos here that I found helpful: http://forum.aerosoft.com/index.php?/topic/67438-step-by-step-flight-videos-now-available-version-110/ The manuals are OK but not great. I found it easier to learn by watching the above videos and then use the manuals as a reference. I don't use FS2Crew, but my guess is that it's better to learn to do the flows yourself first. You can use the built-in FO to run the flows at first and then later have it just read the checklists while you do them. I think it would help with understanding what fs2crew is adding to the experience. Barry Friedman
February 3, 201412 yr Author Well I took off and failed miserably - it seems that my Airbus hates winds coming from active sky next because as soon as I switched to autopilot it and some winds started to blow the plane raised the pitch and went into stall. I'll retry this tommorow but I have to say - plane is great but I am not optimistic about this issue Tomasz Zawadzki
February 4, 201412 yr I'd go right to FS2Crew Its not a deep sim but its the best airbus out right now. And all the things needed for a realistic day to day system simulations operational
February 4, 201412 yr Author Yeah I did. Either I did something wrong or this plane is not compatible with active sky next. Which would be a total shame. Anyway, currently patiently reading systems manual as the only thing it has in common with Boeing is the fact that it's a jet. got some other minor issues (for example landing/taxi lights not visible in external model but need a weekend to check what is the reason Tomasz Zawadzki
February 4, 201412 yr ASN is no problem for the Airbus or any other aircraft. You will have to check the takeoff procedure in the step-by-step guide in detail (manual #6, it's not much fun reading it, I know). Follow your Flight Director closely and don't raise the nose (the aircraft's nose, that is ) too high. What happened to AVSIM
February 4, 201412 yr I also use ASN with the X, no problems what so ever. Rob "Sponge" SzymanskaOwner of: PMDG 737/747/777/MD11/J41. LD 767. Aerosoft Airbus X Extended. Majestic Dash 8 Q400. And many more. Vatsim Hours: 1000+
February 4, 201412 yr Author Yep I must have messed something up but yesterday I was not even able to properly switch from heading select to lnav so ... but I'm learning - today reading system manual. Very useful for Boeing virtual pilot I have to be honest - I love how automated this aircraft is. Understanding it is the key here and I think I'll make it as I finally read whole fcom and fctm for Boeing which was much longer and bigger challenge :)btw for now the most amazing feature is implementation of FBW - love how great it flies in manual mode Tomasz Zawadzki
